It's WAY More Important Than That!
Yeah, I've listened to music once or twice. And yes, I'm going to break the rules once again. Sue Me.
Option 1: I remember exactly where I was when I heard "Motherless Children" for the first time. A friend's dorm room, the day he got "Saving Grace" from Steve Miller. 1969. Lead track on the second side.
Literally, I said "WTF is that?" "The Blues". It felt like the world stopped. Really?
She'll get married, turn her back on you.
53 years later I'm still a big blues fan. There are maybe 100 versions of Motherless Children recorded, several are better than this. But you always remember your first time.
Option 2: "Already Gone" the Eagles
I've spent thousands of dollars over the years trying to put music on a motorcycle. Yesterday, I bought a motorcycle that came with a stereo system. Why didn't I think of that before?
So. Right now I'm listening to a playlist that I've set up for 'the road'. That is literally the track playing RIGHT NOW. I'm not even close to 24 hours of ownership of the Goldwing and I've already found new speakers AND the bluetooth dongle I need :)
Option 3: I believe the best concert I ever went to was the Rolling Stones in 1980 in Seattle. Greg Kihn opened, Stevie Wonder lit up the crowd and the Stones played 2 hours including Sympathy for the Devil for the first time in public since the people were killed in Monterey in 1969. Who cares?
I want to talk about the no question second best show I've ever seen. Norton Buffalo and Elvin Bishop at the Masonic Hall in Spokane, WA. I was jammed in there with 1300 of my best friends.
Norton (the harp player for Steve Miller) always said he was from Walla Walla Washington (he wasn't. He just liked the sound) but he brought his band from LA. They opened for about an hour then Elvin joined them and just completely cooked the place. For over two hours. I've never seen a venue come together like that one did. Just amazing. Elvin is old in this video but you can get the idea. Except throw maybe the best harp player in the business..
Option 4: Easy one. Does not exist.
Option 5: There are a few, but given enough time I can almost always come back to it. We're talking 40 years for some :)
Option 6: I'm thinking of @plint. In a cave. Not for me, because I might not be able to see the light.
Creedence Clearwater Revival (John Fogerty) Long As I Can See The Light
That's it, I'm done. I'll bet you all are glad our fearless leader didn't have 20 options, aren't you?
Not a huge blues fan myself but I hear ya. And CCR - yeaaaah, now we're
talkingrockin'!!I'll tell you what. If you'd have seen that show I describe you'd be a fan. People from 18 to 80 jumping up and down and screaming their lungs out.
I'm a rock and roll fan, too. Sympathy for the Devil is my ringtone :)
I might have. Live music is such a different beast altogether. Hah - due to your comment I went down the Youtube rabbit hole and listened to a ton of Stones songs and The Doors - thank you!
Ahahahahaha. There are a LOT worse rabbit holes to fall into. Two just kick ass bands.
You are right. I have two lists. Live and studio. Not very many acts are on both....
Only two lists? Wow - I have a ton for every different mood or music style I like - LOL. Every now and then I go in and clean them up a little.
Call them master lists. Better Studio albums and better live albums. All the other lists come out of those two.
Amazing point you've made thanks for sharing @bigtom13
Thanks for stopping by! Appreciate it!
You’re welcome ☺️
Ahw thanks. I actually really like Creedence Clearwater Revival! Have never brought music into a cave though, you might be onto something!
That and it's the reason I don't go into caves! I can't see the light!
Haha you can make light! We have pretty strong torches haha
My dad got to see CCR sort of a long time ago. I think it was when he was in the Navy. They were doing a concert and he didn't have tickets but was able to stand outside the fencing and pretty much watch or hear the whole show. Awesome stuff you picked here. Congrats on the new bike too! Can't wait to see pictures.
Outside the fence works for me! My buddy says the best show he ever saw was ELO at the stadium in Honolulu. After two days of rainouts for the show they just told people to come and enjoy. Free is always better than cheap!
I'll have pictures here tomorrow. Spoiler Alert: It's RED.
I love ELO, I bet that was an awesome show! Can't wait to see the pics!
Hahahaha you R funny! Love it when peeps break rules on HIVE, especially challenge rules.
No option 4? Nothing at all to share? No attempt at all? Not even a shower-like adventure you can share?
I can't sing a lick. I have really good hearing and can't stand my voice not matching the music.
I played trumpet and baritone until I started playing after school ball, then I was done. I can READ music. Bass and Treble cleff.
wow, you can do a lot more than I... I can only listen to music and qualify it as good or not to my taste 😂😂😂
owwww I can also have discussions about music with my musician and producers friends. mainly I can tell them if they created something good or something shitty. well my close friends make only good music, otherwise, they would not be my close friends 😂😂😂
Well done on the GW! When are you hitting the road?
It's pretty much winter time every place but right here, so I'm thinking I might have to sneak off to Joshua Tree NP and Death Valley NP. Maybe next week. I'm excited.
Get it done mate, I'd be disappointed for you if you didn't.
I spent some of my meditation time this morning kinda routing in my head. There are some little bergs in Nevada up next to DV, with cheap motels. And now that I think of it, there is a REALLY good Chinese restaurant in 29 Palms that I ought to hit, too.
I think the whorehouse in Parumph actually rents rooms :)
I have just damn near as much fun getting ready as going.....
The planning is often a great part of the trip so I get it. I'd eat Chinese food with you...No chicken feet though brah, just the good old fashioned normal stuff.
No chicken feet. I love food, and I'll try anything. But there are some body parts that I balk at. :)
I tried one once...The experience has left me scarred...And the counselling continues.
