I tried something new today. I had learned that you can get a credit card cash advance from a bank teller rather than at the ATM. This is preferable to avoid the ATM fee and to circumvent the ATM withdrawal limit. And while you're at the teller, you can deposit to your checking if needed. It was only a trial amount of $100 to test the waters.
The cash advance fee on the credit card is still killer, but you found a way to eliminate the other fees. Every dollar kept is a dollar saved.
Indeed. I plan on placing all my income and expenses on the one card. But Discover card has a few places where it is not accepted, requiring use of a Visa or MC for those payments. Still others only accept debit cards. If I find myself tight in cash flow, I'll have the cash advance option with less fees.
At least you know what options you have regarding the cash advances. That's something few if any people know about when they first get their credit cards. I know it was a shock for me when I learned about them the hard way a long time ago.
