Tokyo Banana - Pokémon eidition

Hello,

Anyone who has ever been to Japan has probably tried Tokyo Banana. It's like the official souvenir when you come back from Japan, and most people who know about it ask for it. It's a cake in the shape of a banana that feels like a banana. This cake is also very tasty, but I don't eat it anymore because I have to watch my diet.

I haven't been to Japan yet this year, I would love to fly, but due to the economic situation travelling is only possible on customer request. I have two planned this year, but they are in September and October. This time a friend of mine was there, he knew my wife liked them and brought us a box of the special edition with the Pokémon theme.

Japan is one of my favourite destinations and I would love to travel there with my family, because I was only there for work. I've always tried to bring something back for my family. My son got a lot of Pokémon items and his favourite thing is a little Pikachu plush toy and his Pikachu cuddly socks.

I bought a knife set for the kitchen and I am very happy about it because it is still made in Japan. I use it every day for cooking.

Do you have things from Japan?

Hallo,

Well I lived in Japan 12 years and never knew they were a thing. I have never had one .......mind you I hate banana flavor :D

Where in Japan did you live? In Tokyo-Yokohama area, they are in most sweets shop or souvenirs. At Haneda airport there is a special shop for them. I'm usually in Yokohama and Tokyo, but also travel to the North of Japan, to Miyako.

Initially I lived in The Shitamachi area of Tokyo, downtown, in the East. Then I was in Ikebukero - central North West of Tokyo. What probably made the difference is that I rarely hung out with non-Japanese people or played in any of the gaijin-towns.

I was mostly in Gaijin-Towns, like Koenji and Shimbashi, and in Yokohama, in Shin, Kanagawa and Kannai area.

Tokyo Banana I found in Shin-Yokohama and at Haneda airport.

I usually flew out of Narita. Been to Haneda once but only to deliver something :P

I've always wanted to travel to Japan, but never made it. Those look awesome, I may make it yet, I have a friend who lived there for years and has invited me. I'm pumped! Awesome post!

Japan is really nice, so rich and so different. Usually my friends can't do a lot of things there, as they are not allowed to enter baths, gyms and some clubs, because they have tatoos.
