Today I am here to tell you something that fills me with emotion.

First I will tell you that after graduating with a degree in Physics, I decided to start a Master's Degree in the area, to take advantage of the fact that I really wanted to study.

Everything started off very well, but shortly after I got pregnant and in spite of that I continued with my studies.

The truth is that my pregnancy was very calm and I did not have any discomfort, except for the last months as in all cases, or in most of them. After the birth of my baby I thought I was going to be able to finish this new project.

The post graduate coordinator. Who was my tutor in the final work of my degree told me that I could continue, my professors let me take little Felix to class. He was the spoiled child of my classmates, they took turns to take care of him while I took the notes of the different subjects.
All this happened while I was on maternity leave, about 8 months approximately. But once that stage was over, I resumed my academic activities as a teacher. I resumed my academic activities as a teacher at the university. My little son had to go to a day care center because I had no one to take care of him. My husband worked out of town and so did my mother.

I went again to the postgraduate coordination office to talk to Professor Ramón because the schedules did not fit me to continue and he recommended me to take some time and wait until the baby was older and to organize my schedule well to be able to continue with my studies.

I felt very frustrated because 'I went through what always happens with women, they study or work or are moms but not all at the same time. The support is very little in our case. Well, that's what I thought at the time.

After a couple of years I tried again and at first everything was fine. I adjusted my schedule so that I could work and study while my little one was in daycare. Until I met a teacher who did not accept the schedules that I could because "his time was his and he did not adjust to anyone" that resulted in losing the subject and therefore I was suspended from the postgraduate for 1 year.

I was filled with a lot of anger and resentment because it was the second time I went out and I did not want to continue with that.

The years went by and then I had a baby girl and finally I threw in the towel with the idea of continuing my post graduate studies. I dedicated myself to other things. My children, my husband, my work and the rest of the family.

A couple of months ago I received information about some diploma courses in different areas and one about autism caught my attention, I requested the required information and I enrolled.

What does physics have to do with autism? Simple, with the years that I have been teaching in a university I have observed that there are many people to whom I have given classes that behave differently and in some cases I found out later that they are autistic. And I would like to have more tools to be able to attend them in the right way and that they can better understand what I explain to them.

The course started last week and the welcome was very special. The authorities of the UPEL-Cumaná Venezuela told us that this course would last 10 months and was made up of 8 modules.

I have as a classmate a good friend and colleague named Rosa. She is a sociologist and has a 4 year old child who has recently been diagnosed with autism and wants to know everything about the subject in order to be able to apply it with her little Rafael.

From all this that has happened to me I can tell you that there is always a new opportunity to learn and as my mother says "God's timing is perfect". Maybe it wasn't the right time to do a master's degree, maybe that professor didn't pay for his frustration with me, I really don't know. What I can tell you is that it is never too late to start over.
