How to make the right decision. Part 1

in Self Improvement3 years ago

People always ask themselves: how do I make the right decision? Well, you don't, because there is no "right decision", there is only good, or better decisions -and so it's not a boolean, it's a gradient.

Asking what's the right decision is like asking what's the right way, when in fact there is no way to begin with. A decision can be more right, only if you consider a very specific context. Because you always have to ask yourself: right for what?; or from whose perspective?

And with that out of the way, how do you make good, or better decisions?

The five fundamentals of good decision-making.

  1. You first need an area, a purpose and a reason.
Since perfection is a target, you will never hit, the only realistic goal you have is to improve things a bit further -and for that you need a very specific context.
Where am I trying to improve?

You also need a purpose. Think of this as the general direction of where to take things moving forward. What am I trying to improve?

For example, imagine that the context would be your marriage, and the purpose would be to improve your communication.
and...
1am here again, the rest of them tomorrow.
