Hello, fellow travelers!

I'm back today to keep you company and share with you a place that has always been significant to me since my childhood. Moreover, I want to introduce you to some places in my region that I find beautiful and, perhaps, quite important, although they might be somewhat underrated. So, today, I've decided to share some pictures of Lake Segrino, a small glacial lake located in the province of Como, near the towns of Canzo and Segrino.

Firstly, I need to explain the meaning of its name, which I discovered quite recently. In Latin, Sacrinum or Secrinum means "stream of respect." This lake is renowned for the quality of its water and the serene and suggestive atmosphere it offers, nestled between the Cornizzolo and Scioscia mountains. It likely had significance even in Roman times.

For several years, the lake has been a protected area within the Regional Park of the Lambro Valley. As I stroll along its shores, I always notice a rich variety of flora and fauna. There's an unconfirmed belief that this beautiful lake may have inspired Alessandro Manzoni, the famous author of "The Betrothed," a book that, unfortunately, I studied extensively during my high school years.

As mentioned, the lake is easily accessible both from Lecco and my hometown, Milan. It's a popular destination for Milanese residents, especially those who appreciate relaxation, sports, and nature.

Around the lake, you can take a beautiful 5 km walk, and the path is easy and flat, suitable for all. You'll undoubtedly enjoy breathtaking views of the water and surrounding mountains. I must confess, I've never been here during the summer, but it's said that swimming is possible due to the presence of a beach area with umbrellas and sunbeds. I discovered this after visiting several times, and I plan to check it out this summer to experience the place in the warmth.

Certainly, what I appreciate the most is the beauty of the landscape. On the downside, the traffic and noise from the provincial road that runs alongside the lake for half of the route and the paid parking, which I find a bit expensive. Nevertheless, it can still be an ideal destination for a half-day trip to escape the chaos of Milan.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared. Even though I don't post regularly, I always try to read your posts and comment as much as possible. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
