Dalmatia - A day in Bol, Brač

in Worldmappin3 years ago

Hi hivians,

I'm not sure that this is correct but let call you that way

Today I wanted to share with you a part of the trip I did this summer with some of my closest friends. We, young french students, were really tired of the pandemic that lead us to cancel our trip from the previous year and tired of the long school year we had faced.
So we decided to go to southern Europe for the holidays. And the first place we went was Split in Croatia, we had a lot of places to visit there and tried to do has many thing as possible during the week we spent there.
And one of my best memory is the one I want to share with you, our trip to Bol and the day we spent there.

First we had to go to Brač by boat, as we were staying in Split. So we woke up pretty early (I mean for holiday. I am pretty lazy and like to wake up late when possible 😅), unfortunately the only pictures I have are featuring my friends and I want to respect their privacy so I won't post pictures of them on here.
Then we arrived in Bol and decided to visit a bit the neighboring of the port:

The weather was really hot and the clear water of the Adriatic sea was a real call for a swim.
But before going to the beach we wandered around. There was a small marketplace and typical Adriatic houses.

An other view of the port, just above the marketplace
A small street view that I liked, it seems really nice to live here

Then one of my friend had an important call so with my other friend we decided to go up the town to see the surroundings and because we had to buy some things in the conveniance store. We took a bit of pictures up there and going back to the coast.

After that we had our lunch consisting of salad and sandwiches (we were and are still student so we needed to save money time to time) sitting on a bench and enjoying the view. By the way the promenade along the beach is full of tree which was really pleasant concidering the fact that it was during the end of July. We continued our walk to a place where we could join the beach and enjoy the water, we decided not to go as far as Zlatni Rat because it was a really crowded place and we were not comfortable with this, instead we decided to go on the beach under some pine trees closer to the port so we had a shorter walk back.

Finally, at the end of the afternoon, we decided to go back to the port to take the boat back to Split, we grabbed an ice cone on our way and as they were a bit of time remaining, we headed to the other side of the coast. We found a pretty place, a bit sunnier and less crowded, it was a beautiful place and if we had seen it before we would certainly have stayed there rather than on the other beach.

Overall appreciation

This was a really good experience and a beautiful place to visit in one hand, with beautiful landscapes and a pretty natural surrounding, but the fact that the beach was really crowded is one of the inconveniance of that place. I really liked it in any case and it was really worth as well as it was not so expensive for such a touristic place as Croatia.
One day is really enough for a stay in Bol, because you would see almost everything on the island pretty quickly I think.

So to conclude with a grade,

8.5/10
