Built in the twentieth century, this majestic building stands as a testimony to the effort and devotion of the community cucuteña its architectural design, combining neo-Gothic and Renaissance styles, makes it a unique landmark in the city.
I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful cathedral and historical symbol so emblematic now cucuteños, as I was in the city of Cucuta Norte de Santander Colombia, as they are together with my mother and my younger sister looking for clothes for these beautiful dates diciembrinas, or as it is known colloquially as the first clothes of 24 and 31 December which is a very important translating for everyone, over time has had about 60 fathers and 10 bishops.
One of the things that we can emphasize about the Cathedral of San Jose de Cucuta, is that it is a very tourist spot in the city of Cucuta and all the north of Santander, as it is one of the oldest buildings that we can find in the north of Santander, since the first pastor of this cathedral is the priest in charge of the masses and all that has to do with the Eucharistic celebrations of the cathedral was appointed in the year 1735.
Since the beginning of the cathedral, the Cathedral has been the scene of important religious and social events every year, thousands of visitors congregate in its surroundings to participate in the religious festivities, filling the square with joy and devotion. During Holy Week, the ceremonies and Eucharist are a true spectacle of faith where the community unites to relive the Passion of Christ with processions that cross the streets of the entire city.
The Cathedral is not only a center of worship, but also a cultural meeting place, its interior houses beautiful stained glass windows that tell stories from the Bible and the lives of the saints, each one designed with exceptional talent that leaves visitors in awe. The acoustics of the place are perfect for concerts and artistic presentations, making it a key point in the cultural agenda of Cúcuta.
Throughout the years the Cathedral has faced challenges, such as the adversity of natural events and the passing of time, however, with the effort of the community and the support of different institutions it has managed to remain standing, today constant efforts are made for its preservation and restoration, ensuring that future generations can enjoy its beauty and significance
