A walk that surprises is always an excellent walk, the unexpected and surprising always brightens up certain moments.
Many times you have something planned, but life changes our plans and it turns out that those plans are better than what we had planned.
That's what happened on this walk full of things I didn't expect.
To begin with, I went to a museum, expecting to see a temporary exhibition, which was not there, but for the holidays there was another event, which I will be attending very soon.
Faced with this supposed setback, I was going to continue my course in a certain direction, the sun having already gone down and the lights that decorate the city having been switched on.
But to my surprise the great door of the main town hall was open. Open at that hour was strange, and there were people inside.
The central town hall of the city is beautiful, it has a wonderful architecture, but it was already night and certain Christmas lights decorated it in a special way and that open door invited me to enter and see what surprise awaited me inside.
Despite the years I have been here I had never entered this building and when I saw its entrance, its stained glass windows, its sculptures, it was totally worth it. I must find out if I can visit it at another time of the year to take a closer look at the details.
The reason there were so many people in the place is because the Municipal Nativity Scene was open to the public. Its tour was something amazing.
As I always say, beyond the religious sense, the elaboration of this kind of things fascinates me, it is also art.
I enjoyed every moment of every step I took, on the side of the walkway that showed me different stages of history.
I admired the creation of such a great work, each statuette, each rock, the houses, the little animals. All that takes a lot of work and by people who know how to do it perfectly, just look at the faces.
As an artist, I really appreciate this craftsmanship because I know how much time and knowledge it takes, and not only that, the lighting played a very important role.
There were some areas of the crib that were more illuminated than others, of course to highlight them, but also the ambient lights changed to day and night, so that each sector could be seen as if the hours of the day were passing.
It really is a wonderful job, I always think about it, not only when I go to a museum, but when I go to see crafts or art in any form. Many times it is not valued as it should be and people are not aware of how much effort it takes to do all this.
Each step on my walk along the great catwalk was a journey to another time. I seemed to have been transported to a miniature city where I could see scenes of daily life at the time when Christ was born. What life was like, how people made a living, what work and activities were like in the villages.
Sometimes streets appeared and I could see in the background more scenes, all wonderful and surprising and not only from one country, but even Egypt was present.
I stress again the excellent lighting, I was surprised and excited by what I saw, as I said, this goes beyond whether one is religious or not, or the type of religion one professes, it is art, it is work, it is a walk through other spaces, a very special walk. A walk that I did not expect to do and yet it filled my eyes with beauty.
After leaving that great room where I made a journey through time and space, I returned to the corridors of the town hall, enjoying its decorations, the grand staircase and a beautiful architectural style. I hope to return to see it in its entirety.
A big Christmas tree was waiting for me at the exit of the place, filling the place with light and colour.
And with this view I said goodbye to this great walk through the Municipal Bethlehem. I continue to marvel at this city with each passing day.
Thank you all for joining me on this Wednesday walk. I send you a big greeting. See you soon.
