Sunset and The Famous Penang Bridge

in GEMS2 months ago (edited)

Hello again everyone 🙂 In short, the car is alright now and works as fine as new. My family and I started our journey back home, but time became a bottlenecking factor and had to go changes in the plan again.

This was right before it got dark. I feel that the areas of Penang and Perak get dark much sooner compared to my place which is Kuala Lumpur.

The car was finally fixed. Phew 😅 It was 5pm by then and I guess my family and I spent a total of 7 hours in the service centre. Even if we minus an hour for lunch, it will still amount 6 hours. Turns out, the problem was the spark plugs. One of them was faulty even though they have just been replaced with a brand new set. All the while the car was jerking, the engine was misfiring sparks.

The foreman said that we would have been stranded in the middle of the highway at some point had we continued the journey home without getting the car checked first. I must say the staff of Proton service centre of the Penang was so passionate and did not give up until he figured out the problem. He tested every single possibility and drove the car around to see if the problem was fixed after every test.

We were reaching the Penang bridge and it was past 6pm. That's when we decided that we won't be able to make home that day as it got really late and had to make a stop somewhere to stay for the night. Guess where we went? Sitiawan! A wonderful tourist place with an affordable stay.

On the way to Sitiawan. Just a sign board I happened to capture while trying to capture some lights ahead 😅

Reaching the famous Penang bridge. It's the second bridge called Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge. The old one is still in use and the last time we came we accidentally took the old bridge and missed the new bridge. This time we were more careful and got on the right bridge.

This is the middle section of this bridge with the elegant looking tall triangles at the edges. So what's so special about this bridge? Well, it connects the peninsula with the Penang island. So basically we are crossing the ocean with this bridge. It is 24km long which makes it the longest bridge in Malaysia as well as Southeast Asia and the fifth largest in the world. This was the biggest project done here in the last 20 years and was featured in National Geography.

There are actually other little islands here and tourist locations where we can stay on a raft to enjoy the view. It best suits the people who enjoy fishing because many seem to stay here for that reason.

This is the toll of the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge. We continued on the highway to Sitiawan from here.

The sun was setting.

Another image of the sunset. Please forgive me for the blurriness because I took the pictures while the car was moving.

Check the birds out! Tons of birds were flying around going back to their nest. It was so loud with their cute chirpings.

The tree on the right seems like it has leaves but those are actually little birds all over the tree branches.

The last ray of sun for the day. I guess we reached Sitiawan after an hour or so. We checked into the hotel and went for dinner. So glad to finally have a warm shower and sleep.
