Ahhhhh, once upon a time I worked too hard and had money, plenty of money, money to go places do things see things try things buy things fly away from all the shit going on inside me because I was either too busy playing or too busy working.
Then covid happened and work stopped and I learned how to budget like a motherfucker.
Fortunately I learned how to un-budget all the internal shit and figured out who I am and what I love the most and how to go about getting the most out of my short ass life that's already almost half empty (no half-full bullshit gonna work here).
Then money came back, not lots of money, but enough to do all the things and still eat and have a roof over my head when I was done doing things that weren't done under said roof.
Then, like an asshole, covid came back (because covid is an asshole) and the money went away and so did the savings and now I'm chasing work instead of chasing dreams.
Could be worse, though.
Could be dead.

Obligatory crow photo. This is Hopper, playing catch.
It doesn't cost much to hang out with Hopper. Just a couple kibbles.

Money come, money go. I'd been through a few of the boom-bust cycles before covid came calling, so it made it slightly easier to roll with the punches, but I feel ya. Back in 2017 I saved up my money, quit my job and went on a 12 week road trip taking photos, with no plan for what came after. It was great, until I got to the after part and then I was just pissed at everything for not being on the road still. I keep thinking that hive is almost to the point where I can fund adventures through blogging if I'm cheap enough but then the price comes crashing back down and I have to postpone that a bit further. One of these days we'll get there but that doesn't make the waiting any easier.
If you don't mind my asking, what sort of work do you do? Give Hopper some kibbles for me!
I'm a massage therapist. My private practice pretty much went away because of covid. I haven't done a lot to resuscitate it because I no longer have a practice space and just do outcall for people I already know. But I work at a clinic and also do chair massage. It's slowly picking up now that most people are vaxxed and/or over the whole pandemic and just want to live again.
I've been broke as fuck before, lots of issues with scarcity and such, but got past that. I've learned that money always comes back, but it's been a bit of a jerk lately.
Per your being mad that you weren't on the road anymore, I'm kinda feeling like that now, and am also wondering what I'll feel like after the big Alaska trip this summer... it's a worthwhile mad, though, considering that I know what's lacking right now.
Hive was worth twenty-nine cents when I joined last year. I haven't seen it go back down that low since, so I have faith. Hoping it spikes before my trip.
Hopper says thanks!
Gotcha. Yeah, that's no fun, even when you know good times will be back again. Lol, I still don't think we're anywhere near done with this pandemic but if people want to act otherwise I can't fault you for taking their money.
Oh yeah, that Alaska trip will get you good. It is a good sort of mad but goddamn is it annoying. Everything just seemed so plain and mundane and boring after my trip, I wasn't sure if I could stomach hanging around a place where nothing and nobody really changed all that much. Enough time has passed now that I'm not mad anymore but I'm still no more enthusiastic about hanging around Louisville than I was then.
When I joined steem was hovering between $2-3 after hitting $8 but it was all downhill from there, watched it drop to 8-10 cents. I think my account value stayed pegged at $100 for a year and a half, any rewards were quickly offset by price drops. Lol, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
The nice thing about post-trip hangovers is that I get to come home to all my crows. So it's never a boring transition, even though I do love travel and wish I could do it more often.
Maybe you could befriend some Louisville crows...
I love the first photo and I can only imagine how nice and warm the sun was on that day. Breaking out of the clouds and easing the dark blue.
Thank you! It was pretty chilly that day because it was right on the water, but the sun still felt nice.
This is the most entertaining post I ever read since I'm in hive funny and sad at the same time 🤣 can't wait for the next post

Hello, great photos. Everything. It's hard to even pick just one. I'm sure the money will come back - you have a talent. And, COVID can't go on forever - already tired.
Yes, an interesting fact about COVID. It's like we(Ukrainian) never even had it. No masks, no distances, no quarantines, and self-isolation. All of a sudden, everyone stopped hurting. The epidemiological situation is normal. It's just fact, no more.
Can I just get my 300 Hive without clicking that link, is that ok? You can go ahead and just leave it as a tip. I promise I will vote for Drakos. Cross my heart.
