Warm greetings friends of gardens. Today I invite you to a special garden, a courtyard where plants grow as well as love and hope.I have walked through wonderful places in this last month of December. Today I tell you about my latest adventure. It turns out that I was invited to walk through a special garden, the "Patio de Peregrin".
I think I use the word oasis too much, but without a doubt this patio and its garden can be compared to an oasis. In the society in which we live we walk fast, the shortages and work suffocate us so finding a place where trees grow with green and dense foliage, there is fresh air and man and nature are perfectly intertwined to make the courtyard a giant work of art is nothing more than an oasis of love.
Come walk with me and you will see how breathing becomes easier and you will be flooded with beauty and happiness in this garden of flowers, medicinal plants, timber and fruit trees and where art also flourishes. El Patio de Peregrín is located in Puerta de Golpe, Consolación del Sur municipality, Pinar del Río province, Cuba.
Mario Peregrín is an artist, a painter who 25 years ago put his backyard at the service of the community where he lives. He turned his home into a space for recreation, learning different subjects, model of sustainable agriculture, human values, solidarity, care and protection of the environment, among other knowledge.
We arrived at the front of her house and immediately recognized it. On the facade several paintings on the wall identify the peculiar house. Then you take a path along the side of the house and if you have never entered you are surprised by what your eyes see. Look how much greenery, an exotic garden, where to start. Ah there is also a delicious smell of sweet potato that spreads throughout the courtyard. There are several simple, charcoal stoves set up in different areas of the courtyard for visitors to eat if they feel like it.
Next among the trees is a gallery. What beautiful works are exhibited there. Paintings, handicrafts, arts and crafts, furniture.
After looking at so many beautiful works, you go out again to the patio and there you will find several two-level wooden huts, which are a kind of classroom for people, especially children, to learn how to weave, paint, cook, model, write verses or stories.
It is in this part of the courtyard where workshops on various topics are taught. In this way, they prepare people to perform a particular trade or develop their artistic interests. In addition to reinforcing human values such as respect, solidarity, companionship and care for the environment.
Look at a crocodile, what a scare. If @nanixxx sees it for sure it runs away, @nanixxx this is real, it's not a figment of my imagination.
He doesn't do anything, don't worry, he has a high fence that protects him in his pond.
We continue our journey through the garden, it is easy to stumble upon common objects transformed into art.
Speaking of objects, we must make a stop at a small museum of antique objects that were widely used more than 50 years ago in the fields and small villages by the peasants. Jars with stones for distilling water, lanterns, sewing machines and many more.
If I don't hurry, the group leaves me because I want to see everything in detail. A delicious air and a paradisiacal shade shelter us. Also the smell of flowers.
Nearby there is an orchard with several flower beds. There grow cabbage, chili, tomatoes, corn, linden, anise. Several species very well cared that will serve as food for the community.
A curious sculpture of a man with a hat leaning towards the earth as if sowing.
Behind it is a large pottery workshop that is not yet in operation. There is also a library, I hear that they have El Quijote in verse, but I don't have time to go there because there is not enough time to see so many wonders.
Outdoors we find an exhibition of small works manufactured by the children, showing what they have learned.
A stop there is a literary cafe a small lounge to drink coffee and discuss poetry, literature, art, traditions, customs, heritage.
The sky begins to turn gray, the afternoon will be rainy and the sound of the horn of the car that brought us announces that we must say goodbye before we get caught in a downpour.
A little girl of 4 years old who was accompanying us took Julito, my son, by the hand and said to me, child, what is your favorite color, green, said Julito. Then she answered: "When I have something green I will give it to you. In a garden like that only love blooms.
I hope you enjoyed the walk. I left the coordinates very clear so that if you want to go without me you can find the patio quickly.

Muy bonito post, ese espacio de enseñanza y aprendizaje es muy hermoso y es verdaderamente extraordinario, gracias por compartir esas experiencias e imágenes.
Hello friend, I'm so happy to see you discovering inspiring places. What a beautiful cultural and community project. There are many people who with simple things achieve that impact on others, filling people's lives with smiles and knowledge in the midst of so many shortages and difficulties. The crocodile is not the one who is protected hahaha.... You were protected from him. I really don't think that crocodile there is appropriate. But I don't know... I shouldn't judge.
I am glad to hear from you and Julito. 🌞☕
What a beautiful green space, you can breathe freshness and nature wherever you go, or wherever I look in my case hehe 😂
I really liked this place, a beautiful combination of nature and art, you have to invite us one day to visit this paradise.
