A bittersweet story of everyday life

Eight in the morning. You go to work. It's very crowded and everyone is complaining about something. You see the colleague who is not well because her child had a fever last night. "Everything will be fine" you say to her and start the theater to make her forget. You tell her that story from the vacation in Rome and about that Italian man you met and who you came close to marrying in one week of vacation.

She laughs, tells you that you are a big carnival and continues her work.

It's eleven o'clock and a cancer patient arrives. You tell him that "everything will be fine" by telling him a bunch of lies to give him hope for the last few months of his life. He tells you that he wants to marry his child in time and you tell him that he rushed to take her instead of you. He laughs loudly and tells you that as soon as he gets better he will come to you to cheer him up again.

Drama and comedy are two sides of the same coin.

Four in the afternoon and you're studying. The group is out to eat and you go to find them. They are all tired from work with a complaint in their mouth. You change the conversation by imitating that lady sitting opposite who, since bottox, now has permanent joy, literally painted on her face.

Right after that they'll ask you to give them your girlfriend's reaction that night when you were out and the stripper hit on her husband.

Laugh, old man. Laugh, because humor is the weapon of unarmed people. The one that will help you smile with the situation that makes you suffer.

It's almost seven o'clock and no one says to get up from the table. Everyone's drunk but you. Whenever the conversation gets serious you think of the next story to make them forget. "Everything will be fine" you tell them and continue.

"You are the joy of life" says the guy from the next table who is watching you with his friends. She just broke up, and she's having fun listening to you.

"Those who cry come to their senses faster than those who smile. Everything will be fine" you tell him disarmingly and continue the show.

You're getting ready to leave because you're tired and your friend who just got fired comes over. You start the theater again, telling her that story about the slippers that got cut walking past the coffee shop your ex used to and dragging your foot like you had a stroke.

She asks you to represent it for her inside the shop. You don't deny. What kind of punk are you?

After a while she starts crying. You hug her and tell her "everything will be alright". Twelve at night and you come home. The only time of the day when you don't have to pretend about anything.

You pour a drink and turn off all the lights. You are all alone. Nobody made you smile today. "Everything will be fine" you blurt out, and take the first sip.

"Okay, convince yourself now."
