A Granada Food Post

Granada trips

Since the last time I shared about going to Granada we went there several times, it seems to be one of these "fun for everyone" type of trips where we get to catch up with an old friend and sometimes even more than one, lol. At the same time both me and my boyfriend light up as soon as we arrive in lush Granada.

It's so lovely to see so much green instead of the dessert feel we have over here on our coast. I mean, I don't fancy the cold so when we drive back I'm also happy to arrive back into a milder climate but these trips surely have been fun days out.

Catching up

The food I'm going to share today is from a trip I think two months ago when we visited not one but two friends and were able to pick up some of the kitesurfing gear that was still left at their house. It was funny that we drove that road quite a few times and yet missed not one but a few exits making the drive from one to the other friend a long one, lol. Either way, it was good to catch up a bit even though we had just one hour before we had a table reservation in a restaurant where we knew we could eat something nice for not too much money.

With these long drive days, it's a more than 1,5 hours drive from and back to home, we don't really want to wander in the city for a nice place to sit but mainly just get something to eat and jump in the car so we arrive back not too late. Usually we fail at this though, and it's close to midnight that we arrive back but we try, haha.

Kitchen open all day

When I reserved a table at this restaurant near the new Granada hospital, I noticed they were open all day but usually this doesn't mean that the kitchen is open all day as well. Most of the times they close the kitchen between 4 and 8 more or less so I reserved a table at 8, the earliest time I thought we could grab some food.

While waiting for the waitor to help us, I noticed people getting food and was told the kitchen is open all day, lol. So we could have gone there earlier but at least we know now.

Free tapas!

The big difference between Granada and the Almeria province is that the tapas in Granada are free! Another big difference is that usually it also means that you just get whatever they bring you while here in our province you can usually pick your own tapas of choice. Although it's nice to get them for free, it also usually means you don't get this with water (which is what me and the little one drink) so in the end we have to pay ours anyway.

This restaurant in Granada does it differently though, every time we go there, we get tapas for 3, even when there's just one drinking beer. We even get double tapas, and their quite nice as well.

Sorry for the little unsharp picture, I didn't check it properly on the spot.. These toasts had some honey mustard with ham topping and it was delicious!

Not long before our food arrived, we also received these three chicken broth tapas.. I don't really understand the reasoning behind giving double free tapas, especially not the toast with ham because we received 6 in total so two per person. I did get thirsty from them because of the salty ham, but in my case it still means I order water, not beer, haha. I realise that I'm the exception though!

Main courses

Personally, I was super happy that I didn't order any heavy food such as steak and patatoes because I was quite full from the few toast I had because my daughter didn't want to eat it and neither did my boyfriend as his stomach wasn't feeling too great to begin with.

These tacos are my choice going to this restaurant, they are not too heavy and well balanced.

Dirty hands guaranteed though! Especially since the salsa on the side needs to be on top as well..

I swear the next time we go here again, this will be my choice because they are just too good to pass on, haha.

My daughter wanted a burger but nothing special on top. She's like that, she doesn't know what a good burger is, lol...

She said it was tasty but the burger tapas around the corner of our home are better, I can see why she says that.. but at least she had something she liked after a long day in Granada.

Now let me be honest, I don't remember which beef steak thingy this was exactly because I remember that we sat there and looked at the menu, normally I don't need a translator for a Spanish menu, I get by just fine, but there it was not clear what the options were. My boyfriend knew one thing and that was that he wanted beef. Preferably a good steak. We thought this was the best option out of the ones presented but it wasn't that great.

On top was some foie grass which he found odd as well. Either way, we could chill for a bit before heading home again. I remember it was close to midnight that evening when we got home and it was quite the long day.

Thanks for stopping by <3

All pictures above are mine, taken with my Sony RX10 III camera, although these pictures are definetely not "camera-worthy" as they were the very first food pictures I took in a restaurant so a trial moment for me.

Those tacos look really good! Great pick for a long drive! It's always fun to get out of town every now and again and enjoy the time away. The free tapas is a cool idea, but lack of selection can suck especially if they give you something you absolutely detest. lol Those pictures came out nicely with that new toy of yours!
