Hello dear friends who love culinary delights, this time I wanted to try international cuisine, so I bring you a video tutorial of a Colombian recipe. This is “Habichuelas en chupe” which is nothing more than beans dipped in milk cream. I am a fan of trying new things and as long as I have the necessary ingredients, I do not miss the opportunity to try to prepare the recipes, although many times I make my innovations and I am one of those who most of the time I elaborate the dishes without measures, just with my common sense. Good thing that sense fails little 😅, because otherwise I would spoil a few things.
Back to today's topic, a street vendor passed by with green beans and since I like vegetables I didn't hesitate to buy. I started looking for new recipes and came across this one that caught my attention, because I had only used heavy cream to make desserts and to make coditos. I said to myself, something new to try, here I go. I hope you enjoy this video tutorial, below, I show you the ingredients used and the step by step, in the video you will not miss a single detail of the whole process.

🍵Ingredients // Ingredientes🍵

  • Beans / Habichuelas
  • Milk / Leche
  • Milk cream / Crema de leche
  • Oil / Aceite
  • Butter / Mantequilla
  • Salt / Sal
  • Onion / Cebolla

🍵Elaboration // Elaboración🍵

The first thing to do is to wash the beans very well and cut off the ends. Then chop them according to the size you want, I always chop them about two centimeters long. Many people chop them by putting the knife diagonally so that they are with tips, it looks prettier, so to speak.

Cut the onion, you can use any variety you want.

Place in a bowl a dash of oil to fry the onions, when they are wilting add the salt and butter until it melts completely. Then add the beans and mix so that the flavor of the butter is impregnated. Let them cook for 5 minutes, stirring them from time to time.

After the time has passed, you will notice that the beans take a greener color, this is the moment to add the milk, enough to soften the beans. Then add the cream, stir and let it thicken. This will not take more than ten minutes, you must take this into account because if you overdo it, it will stick to the bottom.

And now the ¨Habichuelas en chupe¨ are ready, I was very surprised by the flavor, very rich. You can add cheese to the preparation, I'm sure it will be much better. I liked eating this dish cold, I told you, I saved some for my sister to try it and I put it in the refrigerator to heat it up and when I tasted it, it had thickened much more, it seemed like cream cheese with beans, even its flavor was very similar, I definitely preferred it cold. I hope you liked this recipe, I invite you to prepare it and let me know what you thought and new suggestions, best regards.
