French Breakfast in Paris - Cafe Palais Royal

in Foodies Bee Hive2 months ago

I am not typically a breakfast person; I lean more towards brunch. However, when I travel, I do have breakfast if it's offered by the hotel; otherwise, I usually just have coffee. During a recent trip to Paris, my sister arranged a special breakfast outing for us. After all, when in France, you must try the delicious croissants. Of course, you can't miss the baguettes, although they are available anytime in France. My visit to Paris was brief, just a single day before heading back to the Netherlands. Despite the limited time, we managed to squeeze in a few activities that made our stay memorable and enjoyable. We may not have had the chance to fully explore the captivating city of Paris, but the experiences we had were delightful and made the short visit worthwhile.

We began our day with a visit to the Pyramide du Louvre, an iconic landmark in Paris that we didn't want to miss in its morning glory. Arriving early, we spent an hour exploring the Louvre Museum Area and Square. Afterward, we wandered around and found ourselves on Rue Saint-Honoré, close to the Palais Royal. Although we missed seeing the palace as it was still early, our spirits remained high. The street was lined with charming cafes and bistros waiting to be explored. My sister, who is an expert at finding great dining spots, had planned our entire Paris trip, so I happily followed her lead. Before long, she discovered a lovely cafe for breakfast near the Louvre Museum.

The surrounding atmosphere was busy and full of noise. Despite being near a prominent street known for heavy traffic, we didn't mind sitting outside the cafe. While some might find such a setting annoying for breakfast, we welcomed the experience for its uniqueness. The cafe, named Cafe Palais Royal, epitomized the traditional French style. Parisians cherish their morning ritual of having coffee and a croissant at cafes because it offers a chance to connect and socialize with others.

Many Parisian cafes have beautiful views of the city's streets, landmarks, and architecture. We, too, enjoyed stunning architectural sights and landmarks from our spot, which enhanced our overall experience. The tradition of a leisurely breakfast in a cafe is a significant part of Parisian culture. Despite our busy schedule, we wanted to savor a proper, relaxing breakfast.

I was too busy focusing on my belongings so I told my sister to order breakfast for me

The cafe itself wasn't busy, but the outdoor seating area was completely full, so we had to wait a bit for a table. Everyone preferred sitting outside, leaving the inside empty. Soon, the waiter handed us the breakfast menu and mentioned they could offer an authentic French breakfast, ensuring we had a proper meal to start our day. It sounded appealing, and at 16 euros per person, it wasn't overly expensive. There were cheaper options available, but our hunger made the decision easy. I guess we wanted to get the breakfast experience in Parisian Style.

The indoor setup was pleasant, but as I mentioned, we preferred to have our breakfast outdoors.

We were a group of four, but we only ordered breakfast for three. As I mentioned earlier, I'm not much of a breakfast person, so I wasn't sure if I could finish a full meal. Plus, I didn't want to waste any food in Paris—it would have been a shame.

To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to the cafe or its details. My focus was on taking in the surrounding landmarks and the bustling atmosphere. Meanwhile, my sister was engaged in the menu and busy on her phone, planning our next destination. I simply relaxed and enjoyed the moment, appreciating the luxury of having someone else handle the planning.

Soon our breakfast arrived and it was a feast.

Everything on the plate was delicious. From the jam to the coffee, the flavors were definitely different from breakfasts in other countries I have ever had before. The remarkable taste and freshness are what make French breakfast different from others. I had eaten croissants before, but this cafe's croissant was exceptionally crispy, buttery, and delicious. Freshly baked, its fragrance was incredibly appealing. I ordered a latte, which was really nice. Our breakfast included croissants, juice, coffee, slices of baguette, and bread with fried eggs. My sister opted for hot chocolate instead of coffee, thoroughly enjoying it. We decided not to order pain au chocolat for breakfast, but the meal was still wonderfully satisfying.

This is the only breakfast photo I have, probably someone will share the same breakfast cafe experience with you in a different way. My initial thinking was to have a Parisian setting breakfast to have a full experience in Paris and I am glad I have it now. Others also enjoyed their breakfast hopefully.

These elements combine to make breakfast in a cafe not just a meal, but an experience that embodies the Parisian way of life, I am glad that I get to have that experience.

What a nice day out you had with your sister. I loved how relaxed you were as your sister did the planning and mostly glad the breakfast was to your likening.

The pictures taken are amazing. Thanks for sharing ☺️.

The breakfast was good and I wanna thank my sister for finding such a cafe for us. It was nice...

The best croissant I've ever had was also in France when I was visiting a friend in Cannes some years ago. In the morning she went to the boulangerie downstairs from her apartment and came with the most delicious fresh buttery croissants 😋

Ah then you had the best croissants I would say. When I was having the croissants in Paris, I thought that no other place could make such authentic buttery croissants. I tried croissants in Rome also but it was so different and it had flavors. The smell of the fresh croissant is divine and if you add jam, it tastes more delicious... In the Netherlands, they don't have such croissants, unfortunately.

By the way, are you planning to visit France in the near future?

Thank you for sharing such a moment with me...

No plans to go to France yet, next trip should be HF. Are you going this year?

Ah nice, I am considering going to HF but need to manage a few things before planning for HF. That's why I haven't booked any tickets... I hope to see you there if I can make it...

Wow breakfast on a Paris terrace sounds perfect. The fresh croissants must have been great.

In Europe, terrace cafes and restaurants are popular because of the view. People enjoy having their meals there.

The fresh croissants must have been great.

It was so delicious...

Wow so glad you enjoyed like this, would wish to visit there one day

I hope your dreams will come true soon...

Thank you dear friend

A leisurely breakfast with a view of the Parisian cityscape must be the best! I think I would choose the terrace table as well as you.
The pattern on the chairs is stylish and caught my attention😉

I have seen some traditional setups in Paris and Rome. They are cute and colorful with patterns. You noticed such little details, I am amazed.
