Here's a few photos of a fence and pergola I made this year. I put up a pretty hasty fence about 2 years ago with the intent of finishing this sooner, but other projects got in the way and the other fence was serving it's purpose.
But, after a while the gate started to get a lopsided because it was done without much thought and it was becoming a hassle to deal with. I also hit a chunk with the snow blower last year and pulled a bunch of the wire fence off, making a huge mess of things.
This isn't my first fence build and, because it was only a short run, I decided to make use of the CNC router and add some flare to it. Every fence board was carved with a design on top, but simple enough that it only took a few minutes per board. This makes it one of a kind, but also easy to reproduce should I ever need to replace a fence picket since I have the file ready to go.
I also used the CNC on the pergola design to cut out the joinery and make a custom cut for the ends.
I want to do something on the sides of the pergola still, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm thinking some sort of silhouette design that will cast a nice shadow later in the day.
