Unfair to them but changing with time

In this present world, males and females are equal, and it should be, but still, somehow females are neglected like in earlier times. Many of us agree that men and women are equal, but through our actions, many of us have similar thoughts as we had in the past. In the past, our ancestors made many rules that have become a tradition at present.

Some of the traditions were an injustice to the women. In the present time we came out from such a thing, but still there are some practices or thoughts that's unfair to women. I am going to share some of them here.

Marriage is the most important thing for everyone. In my culture, arrange marriage is very common where one man and woman become partners whom they don't know from earlier. Naturally, marriage occurs when the groom and bride agree to become partners. That's logical, but in the past, the opinion didn't count. Family members used to decide the matter on behalf of the bride. In fact, many times brides were forced to do marriage even if the bride did not agree with the proposal. In that time, such a thing was very common, and women needed to sacrifice themselves for the decisions of family members. Fortunately, many things have changed, and in present time, family members ask for the opinions of the bride also, but still there are some people who still follow the old tradition. Other people can't interface in such kind of case as it's a family matter. Although it's happened very few times in this present time, it exists still now, and it's unfair to those women who suffer for it. Their family treats marriage as a business deal. I hate to see that kind of practice, even if it happens to a few women.

Cooking is a hobby for many people. In the present time, male and female both are interested in it, but I think nobody wants to do cooking on a regular basis, but we need to cook food to eat. But people think that handling the kitchen is the word of ladies, as men are destined to work outside. Women do cooking, and it's not wrong, but it's not necessary; they need to cook food for compulsory. A male person can also help them in cooking or do the same task. As an example, I am considering myself. I can cook, and I hope my future wife will be able to cook food. In the future, I must help my wife with cooking when I am available at home. But our senior citizen thinks that cooking is the task only for women. In fact, some of them also think that it's humiliating for a man to go to the kitchen to help in cooking food. It's a funny thing to me, and I totally disagree with their opinion. Mentality started to change, but still, it will take time, and it's also kind of unfair to the women.

I think in this present time most of the family treats male and female equally, and that's good. But there are also some families who do not allow their daughters to receive higher education. They think if females receive higher education, she will be arrogant, and it will be hard to control her. I really don't get the point why families need to control a female person after she becomes mature. Why family become an obstacle for them? I don't get the point. The good thing is that most of the family now is interested in giving the best for their daughter. Unfortunately, few women are unlucky and don't get the opportunity of higher education just because they were born in a family where people are narrow-minded.
