One of the strongest, bravest, most generous, and most beautiful people I could ask for. She is such a vibrant, independent, nostalgic, and happy-go-lucky person that I have known and loved my whole life since I was a child back then. I barely remember this saying when I was a kid: “Mama, please, ari lang siyas atoa ayaw lang sya pa ulias ilaha." Those words keep taunting me, knowing that this girl is beyond important in my life. I must say that she is my everything. My first best friend in time. God knows how much I loved her.

This amazing person is our first ever nephew in Umpad's family. She is our first blessing angel that comes in our whole entirety. Her name is Geny Rose Umpad, my love, my apple in the eye.And in this month of August, 16 is her birthday, her special day, whereas her mother gave birth to this beautiful lady and welcomed her into the world. Happy birthday to you, my dear Geny. Know that you've made a great impact on my life, and I'm so glad that you exist.

Times fly so fast, and I couldn’t expect that now you're turning seventeen. But before that, allow me to reminisce about these unforgettable happenings. Way back when you were a kid, Tita Sunshine would always keep pestering you, giving you what was mine and yours also. It can either be in a good way or a bad way, depending on my mood. Every time you visit your father’s or our hometown, I simply do love playing with you.We've been together in all ways, keeping in touch with each other. We do love Filipino games and movies, enjoying ourselves as we keep on playing every time, to the point that my mother will screw up with me knowing that I am older than you. Moreover, when you come to our place on special occasions, I will always be the one who will first meet and hug you before others can. That's how special you are to me.

For some reason, due to some instances in her family, I have no power to change the decision of her parents, so they decided to separate, far from each other. I may not know the whole story due to the breakup of her parents for almost a year. In fact, it was kind of exhausting, and I was also mourning the fact that I carved for her presence at that time.

Fast-forward: a miracle happened, and with God's grace, after several years of being separated, they finally came back together. With all this, the reason for getting back together is because of my parents. They might encounter tragedy and hurricanes in their family, but God never leaves their side. I'm so glad because they are now a completely happy family. Every time they visit in a short period of time (only if there’s a special occasion) in our hometown, I do my favourite thing to do with her, and that is hug supremacy.

As COVID-19 brings a devastating problem to each and every one of us, most especially to all students, yes, it is indeed a very tremendous experience for all of us, but in my part, I am so happy that my favourite nephew decided to stay for almost two years in our place. It is my gratitude that I can now be with my apple in my eye for the rest of the COVID phenomenon. And that all started our strong bonds together since she is not a baby anymore; we look like a normal friend without blood related.

That time, I was so burdened and didn't know what to do, but thanks to God, she came into my life willing to listen to all my rants in life. When she came to our place, I eventually made her feel at home, making her feel like she belonged here. I trained her on what it's like to be a farmer, and thankfully she didn’t resist. In our place, I believed that there's a lesson she learnt. I also told her to join the youth ministry in our beloved parish. She is now my partner in crime, and whatever I should do, she is always there beside me. We shared laughter and tears, made more memories together, and even introduced her to my friends.

My message to my nephew

Hi, my baby girl Geny, in the bottle and rose of my life. 🤗 Today is your very special day, yet one year to go, and we are soon welcoming you to legality. I just want to say happy, happy, prosperous birthday to you. Know that you are loved by everybody that surrounds you because of your genuine love and kindness. I'm so blissful that I found a safe place for everything. You are too precious to keep, like a diamond that shines in all ways. Tita loved you very much; always remember that. Tita is proud of who you are now and what you have right now. I am so thankful that God gave me you. I just want to say thank you for everything you did for me, most especially for being there with me in my lowest times. Thank you for your unending patience in listening to my rants and chikas in life, talking nonsense things, and sharing my problems about family, friends, and my crushes in life. I really appreciate all of your advice. Thanks for that, my dear. Thank you so much for always encouraging me when I don’t believe in or trust myself. My heart is full because you fill it with love and hope. Somehow Tita will say sorry for all the mistakes that I have done to you, if sometimes I can’t talk to you or somehow I feel a little envy because a lot of people love you over me. But it's okay as long as you feel good and overjoyed; that doesn't matter to me now. And in fact, I do really understand what maturity is when I reach eighteen years old.

Happy birthday to you, my dear Genybells. I wish you all the best as it is. May God bless you always. Never forget to thank God for everything that you do. Always keep on praising and glorifying him in all ways. And I do believe that you can achieve all your desires in life. Just don't give up. Although you are so talented and gifted, there’s nothing to worry about. Just continue studying hard and be the best sister in your family. I love you always, and I miss you a million times.
