I'M NOT SURE I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS!

I may have to edit my ACCOUNT PROFILE which reads like this,

family, homesteading, sports, fishing, travel, gardening, woodworking, food but not cooking.
A few weeks ago @farm-mom made some zucchini bread and it was absolutely delicious. It was so good that I asked her if she could bake some more. She told me I should make the next round if I wanted more.

Now you have to understand that cooking and I don't get along. I don't have the patience, the skill, and most things I cook end up BURNT.

I figured, what the heck, how hard could it be, I'll give it a go.

The hardest part was finding all of the ingredients, I knew we had everything, but it took a while to get all of it out of the cupboards and organized.

The zucchini came from our garden, the eggs from Lauren, and the honey from a local beekeeper, you've got to love it!

The one thing she did tell me was to mix all of the dry stuff first and then start adding the in wet. Good clue, without that info I would have been dumping in one ingredient after another, wet or dry.The night before I told @farm-mom that I was going to try making the bread in the morning.

When she got up the following morning, the batter was ready to pour into the baking tins.

As she eyed up the kitchen, which I must admit looked like a War Zone, the first thing she said was, "Did you use the baking soda or the baking powder?" Before the sun came up, I was breaking out the ingredients and I wasn't sure which one I was supposed to use. With my luck I figured that I had used the wrong one. Immediately, I wondered if it would make a difference? I mean, after all of the stuff that was in that bowl, how could two teaspoons of one or the other make a difference?

Well, Lady Luck was on my side, I used the Baking Soda, not the Baking Powder. My lovely wife pointed out that baking soda was clearly stated on the slip of paper with the recipe. Missed that one.😁

Next step, grease up the pans and cover with flower. When it came time to remove the zucchini bread from the pans, they slipped right out like magic, pretty cool!

That was a success, I didn't burn a thing. Once they cooled off just enough so you didn't get scorched, I devoured a half of a loaf, with a little butter melted on top of course.

This was about what it looked like when Robin got up.

And the zone belongs to her :) I don't dare to cook a thing for this reason, but it's good to see you finished nicely.

Robin was impressed with the zucchini bread, but doubly impressed with the cleanup, the kitchen was shining.👍

That's funny that you used the words WELL DONE. That was the last thing I wanted to do, make the bread well done like the sausages and grilled cheese.

I hope you folks are doing well,
God bless.

That's some great news. A pat on the back goes a long way. To be recognized for all that your charity does must make you proud.
This deserves another post about Papillon Charity. News like this and what you do, is what people need, positive vibes.

What an accolade and so deserved. I watched the video and so enjoyed seeing your presentation. In reading many of the stories shared by the people involved with your charity, one common thread is the respect everyone has for your and Marian's efforts since the beginning.

Peace be with you as you continue to serve so many in need.

Thank you my friend, so many good days over the tears, and also the "bad" days to teach us how to do things better. One has to have a calling to do this work, as if it is only to earn a salary, then it never lasts. But you know what I am say as you were also a teacher once, and the chaff always get sifted out. I am glad that you read the reviews and thank you guys also for your kind support as you both also have a share in our achievements.

All our love, and peace for you too.

Baking is 100% cooking. In fact it is the hard part of cooking!

You did great and hey we need a bit of luck once in a while!
It is funny but we call zucchini as courgettes. But I do make zucchini bread too!

That's exactly what Robin is trying to tell me. It just can't be cooking, or I have no more excuses to only do the dishes.
I must admit, I did have a good time.

I can see why you also make it, it's pretty tasty stuff.

Thanks you very much for all that you folks do for our community.

Good for you! Now you have plenty to snack on.

I'm trying not to make a complete meal out of them.

LOL! Did you succeed?

I only ate a half of a loaf today.

Haha I can imagine how the kitchen looked @thebigsweed. You did very well, those loaves look so good! @farm-mom I hope you'll pop in here, if your man can bake, he sure can learn to cook. All he needs is a recipe😉

I sure do appreciate your compliment. I'll take it, especially since it's coming from the gal who makes some of the best baked goods I have ever had the pleasure to drool over

I think I'll stick with making the bread. The last thing I would want to do would be to put Ronin out of a job.

No te preocupes, el bicarbonato hace el mismo efecto que la levadura

That was very cool. I don't know too much Spanish but thanks to google translate I got your info, Thank you.

Don't worry, baking soda has the same effect as yeast.

Hell yeah dude. That only took a couple generations. Now clean the oven and fold the laundry.

Whaddup Sweed, nice to see you in the feed again. Cheers you two.

That's what happens when your wife spoils you, it takes a while to get onboard. I'm sure you understand, being brought up a spoiled kid yourself. 😁😁😁

I wish cleaning the oven and folding the laundry were the only chores on my list.
Nice to be back in the FEED, that's why I baked 10 breads.

We hope you folks are doing well!

Once your used to baking, it can be fun😌😁

By the time I finished and relaxed for a spell, I had a big smile on my face, realizing that baking was a ball.

Good on Robin getting you to bake the loaves, it's relaxing working in a kitchen once you know how!

PS: I don't bake....! Well not often. Have fun and thanks for sharing the recipe, last I made was pumpkin fritters.

!BEER

She did do that, get me cooking, a small miracle!
Well, I now know how to make the bread, and it was very enjoyable except for the last ten minutes. After all of that prep I didn't want it to turn out like most things I cook. untitled.gif
I had my face pressed against the glass door of the oven, watching it like an eagle.

That was one thing I forgot to mention. At the top of the recipe it says pumpkin bread. The real cook said that the recipe would be the same for either bread.

Once you have a good basic recipe I would think you could add a variety of things for variety.

Congrats on tackling something new, always helps knowing another can cook when necessary... (not in my home)

Yesterday I helped make stuffed mushrooms and a pot of chicken soup with lots of our homegrown veggies.Without the recipe, I'd be lost. @farm-mom cooks many of our meals with no recipe, constantly tasting as she goes. Many times I'll look in the frig and think there is nothing out for dinner, and the next thing you know she has whipped up a wonderful meal.

Starting to enjoy this new gig.

Love a good chicken soup with fresh veggies in the cooler months, also beef soup meat with marrow!

Sounds like you starting to assist in preparation, exactly where one learns !LOLZ
