YES.. Another 1921 Silver Peace Dollar

IMG_5952.jpeg

This past week, I added another 1921 High Relief Silver Peace Dollar to my collection.. I now have four (4) 1921 piece dollars, and I wasn’t planning on acquiring another one so soon, but sometimes opportunities arise, and you just have to seize them. It’s not uncirculated—I’d place it in the fine to extremely fine range—but take that with a grain of salt since I’m no professional coin grader. (Grading is definitely an art I’ve yet to master. LOL.)

While reading about the 1921 Peace Dollar, I learned that its survival estimate is approximately 100,000 in all grades, 40,000 in grades 60 or better, and only 5,000 in grades 65 or better. The 1921 Peace Dollar was minted in high relief and is still very much considered one of the most popular silver dollars ever produced by the US Mint.

Newest addition is the one at the very bottom

FACT - Total mintage of 1,006,473 coins in 1921, and were released in early 1922.

I found it interesting when reading .. That because of their first year issue status, Mint State examples are still relatively available, though finding true gem specimens can be quite rare. I think after reading all of that, that it adds even more appreciation for the coins I’ve been collecting, their rarity and historical significance make them treasures in every sense.. Or at least to me it does.

A few years ago, I came up with the idea of collecting 1921 Peace Dollars for each of our nieces and nephews. My thought was that someday, when they’re older, they might appreciate receiving such a scarce piece of history. Whether they develop a fondness for collecting or “stacking” like I do remains to be seen, but there’s always hope. And if they don’t? Well, I can always pivot and sell them for a profit down the road.

This latest addition stands out because it’s on the silvery colored side .. With not that much patina on it's silver surface. It’s possible it’s been cleaned at some point, though I’m not entirely sure. Regardless, it’s a beautiful piece and a meaningful part of my collection. The Peace Dollar’s history always feels so tangible when holding one of these coins. That high-relief design and the story behind its creation make it a standout year for the series.

Huxley, Me and The Beautiful Sunrise

IMG_5958.jpeg

On a completely different note, Huxley and I ventured out to the lake last Saturday to take in the sunrise. I make it a point to head out there whenever I can. There’s something so rejuvenating about witnessing nature’s beauty in full force, especially at the beginning and end of a day. That morning, the orange-red glow of the sun rising over the water was absolutely stunning. It was a bit cold, with the wind whipping around, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the moment.

IMG_5960.jpeg

We managed to capture several photos of the sunrise and even squeezed in a selfie. Hux wasn’t too thrilled about being on the ground by the water. He’s still hesitant around the lapping waves and the dock’s movement. When I tried to set him down, he scratched at my legs to be picked back up .. and, of course, I obliged. Standing there, with Hux in my arms, watching the sunrise over the lake, was a special moment of peace and connection. It’s these little snippets of time that remind me how lucky I am.

Whether it’s a coin steeped in history,

Or a simple sunrise shared with Huxley ..

These experiences are what make life so meaningful. Here’s to appreciating the small joys and continuing to build collections—of coins, memories, and everything in between.

Not too costly, but not as cheep as some others that's for sure.
We did. Or I at least did. He spent more time being worried about the possibility of being set down near the waters edge. lol

So lovely! And that Huxley is so tiny and cute! Funny how he doesn't like the water movement.

Yeah he just went to the vet again on Wednesday.. he almost broke the scale at a hefty 5 lbs. lol. Maybe the more exposure to the water the more he will realize it is not out to get him.

Hefty 5 lbs huh? LOL Such a cutie!

Wow,those are some pretty great photos. We have been having some awesome sunsets here, but I have been too busy running around to appointments and holiday events to really appreciate them!

Thanks. The weekends are about the only days I can get back there to appreciate the sun up and sun down. Otherwise it sets before I get home and I watch it come up at work.. like you do!

Yes indeed! Especially this week, it has been a lot of long days!

We love such different designs in gold and silver and I also try to buy them.

It's getting tougher and tougher to get any these day, thats for sure.

They both look great in the selfie, the beautiful sunset, your pet looks very small in your hand and looks calm, protected, he has felt your protection and affection, I don't have a pet because I can't take care of it, but I like dogs.

Thank you!
He is a tiny little guy but full of big dog energy most days.
Smart not to own one if your lifestyle doesn't allow you to take care of a dog.
One day maybe.

!LUVBeautiful sunrise shots @bdmillergallery

I don't catch them all, but when I do I really appreciate them.
