UNDERSTANDING POST PAYOUTS ON STEEMIT

in #help7 years ago

Recently, @leaving-egypt asked me if I could share a bit about this topic.

my opinion about things, and the way that I personally see things. Each and every steemian is free to come to their own conclusions. As far as I know, all information in this video is accurately represented.Since I have so many newer users following me, I thought that it would be best to elaborate even more than just answering the specific question asked by @leaving-egypt. As always, this is just

UNDERSTANDING POST PAYOUTS VIDEO

Along with some other information that I share, I cover the following topics:

  • Why do potential post payouts fluctuate in value even when no one is upvoting or downvoting them?
  • Why does the author not receive the full potential post payout?
  • What are the options for post rewards?
  • When should I decline a post payout?
  • When should I use the 50/50 post payout option?
  • When should I choose the 100% power up post payout option?

Hopefully this information comes in handy for more users than just @leaving-egypt. As long as any questions aren't too technological or in depth, I'll try to answer them in the comment section below. I hope it helps! Steem on everyone!

Until next time…

Good explanation

I have read many post talking about how Post payouts work. But I haven't seen anyone explain how Comment payouts work. Dose it all go to the commenter or dose it payout like the blogs do?

I just checked. I had one recently pay out. The total was eight cents. I got seven, curators got one.

Still try to fiqure out your Steemit Chat username. Is it just papa?

papa-pepper

Searching on Steemit Chat on my phone and it shows papa-pepper dose not exsist. I went to my laptop and found you. Stupit phone.

Even though I've been around for awhile, I still learn something from these types of videos! Thanks.

Glad to hear it! Thank YOU!

That helps explain why it goes up and down. Already knew about the amount of the payout but it helps others understand. I like the idea of being able to invest it all into SP or 50/50 (the latter is my choice right now).

Great explanation of it all, thanks mate.

Glad you got something out of it. That's why I talked a little more about a few other things.

Thanks @papa-pepper , I asked the question a few weeks ago but sadly no one answered. Thanks for the information! Here was the post...https://steemit.com/steemit/@simms50/rewards-power-up-100-or-default-50-50-what-is-the-difference

Great post , very helpfull, Thanks papp-pepper

thanks @papa-pepper for this post and the video. good information especially for new steemers like me.

Thanks for taking charge as usual, man! You have a wealth of knowledge and it's awesome how you are constantly helping this community grow.

I do try to help. The more we are all learn, understand, and apply, the better steemit will be for all of us!

You really make it happen, man. It's nice to see it. I have been getting quite a bit, just from your posts. Definitely appreciated.

In addition to steemit related matters, you've been helping me think out my own homesteading plans as I've been saving up for my own land.

Rock it out!

Thanks big @papa-pepper. I had a better understanding now regarding payouts! More power to you!

I've wondered about that too... thanks fur addressing the situation... I just figured as long as I was getting something it is better than nothing and there was no need to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Something is better than nothing, but understanding it can be even better! Thanks man.

Thank you papa-pepper! It is great to see leaders on this platform like yourself help spread and share valuable insight to the community.

very helpful video. thank you

Great information. Upvoted and followed! Keep up the good work fellow Steemian!

a good video post pal, I really like.

This is great information. I amways enjoy when people share there thoughts on post upvotes and payouts I learn something

Good info! Every time I think I understand the payouts and what not I find something like your video and learn some new stuff! Thanks!

Thanks, papa-pepper, as a rookie I did learn a great lesson from your tutorial. keep it up and thumb up for you.

Great information and easy explained thanks for your time I enjoy the video

I am so excited to see this!!! I have been struggling to find these answers. I mean I have been searching. I knew that the final payout would be off-set by the curation pay out. I'm still confused about the amount. I thought it would be a set percentage. So far, none of mine have been the same %. But the fluctuations without vote changes was making me nuts. Now that I know it is a projection, I can see how it corrects itself. You really have eased my mind about the financial side of Steemit by answering these questions. I feel better informed.

I am glad to hear that it was helpful for you.

At first I was wondering why the value of my posts were changing without receiving any additional upvotes. Then I realized the value is connected to the price of Steem. Makes sense.

Very Excellent! Upvoted and Followed! :-)
I'm still new and still learning so I really appreciate this video. Thank you! :-)
Thanks for sharing! :-)

Upvote ❤ resteem te sigome gustan tus post

I think upvoting a decline payout, doesn't ding your voting power. I also think taking SBD when the price of Steem is high is good, because then you can put the SBD on the market to buy Steem when (if) steem bounces back down. There's some risk, but also considerable reward.

Great video! I keep begging for videos like these so I can better wrap my head around how Steem works!

If you have any specific questions that I know the answers to, I may have already done a video. Or, I could make one for you.

Please send me an email so I can send you some more info regarding the interview. Looking forward to it!

I'll get to it!

yay. Looking forward to connecting :)

I hope to be able to not power down until at least a year from now. My gut feeling is that the new SMT's might be huge and have a powerful effect on the value of Steem.

You are not alone in that!

follow & vote me

I knew the information you said, but hearing you explain help click a few missing links. I don't plan to cash out any time soon, so why wouldn't I power up 100% on post? Thanks for sharing, maybe next video you could explain vest verse mvest.

*Side note Our chickens are sick. Mama is attempting to nurse the sick one back to health, but we aren't too confidante she will make it. Any advise?

Oh no. Have you posted on it yet? What kind of illness?

I haven't posted about the sick chickens. Mom thinks it's a cold. The chick lost her voice and was very Sluggish. Moms been nursing her back to health. Looks like it's getting better. What do you do when your chicks get ill? Like a cold??

It took me several months to understand these things and every now and then something new pops up. So you never really know everything.

No you don't! Gotta keep learning. Good point!

information that is very useful for us. I also like your daily activities, befriend with nature.and discuss everything in this nature, gardening, farmers and so forth.
Success and health always @papa-pepper 👍

This was really helpful and useful information, thank you!

Thanks man!

Choosing the 50/50 or 100% has always confused me. I write a good post (or so I think) and I do it at 100%... but it doesn't get as much traffic or UPvotes that I assumed it would. So I change the next post down to the 50/50.. and guess what? Yeah... sigh

Going to take your words to the posting page and see what I can do with the info.

I doubt I'll ever figure out the steemit algorithms, but... I am still enjoying the writing, blogging and interactions I have on steemit.

Now it's clear to me!
Thanks for sharing this.

Wonderful video...it helped clear up a few things I wasn't sure about...but didn't want to ask for fear of sounding dumber than I actually am. :D

Thanks for taking the time to post this and clarify things for a lot of us. :D Have an awesome day! :D

Still trying to wrap my brain around this whole Steemit thing, and your video helped a few things click. Thanks so much - oh, and I've subbed to your YT channel. :)

It still seems a bit confusing for now, but hopefully I'll understand more the longer I'm here. Videos like this are certainly helpful! Thank you :)
