Apel hijau merupakan salah satu jenis tumbuhan yang termasuk dalam kelas Magnoliopsida. Tumbuhan apel ini pertama kali ditanamkan di Asia Tengah. Namun sekarang tumbuhan apel dapat kita jumpai di berbagai daerah yang memiliki suhu udara yang lebih dingin.
Di Kalangan masyarakat saat ini masih banyak yang belum mengetahui kandungan vitamin atau nutrisi dalam apel hijau. Kandungan kadar air yang lumayan banyak, Buah apel yang segar mengandung vitamin dan zat-zat yang diperlukan untuk memperbaiki sel-sel tubuh yang telah rusak.
Buah apel hijau selain mengandung vitamin C juga mengandung vitamin A yang sangat dibutuhkan untuk kesehatan mata. Vitamin A dalam buah ini cukup banyak, sehingga mampu merangsang pada kesehatan mata dengan baik.Tidak disarankan juga dalam mengonsumsi buah yang terlalu banyak kandungan vitamin A secara berlebihan. Karena hal itu dapat merusak sel-sel tulang, sehingga dapat mengganggu keutuhan vitamin D yang sangat diperlukan juga oleh tubuh kita
