Hearthstone: Descent of Dragons (No Shaman? No Problem!)

It has been a full week since the launch of the newest expansion, Descent of Dragons, and it has been nothing but extremely interesting for me. I've started into the new expansion with about 1500 Gold left after my months-long hiatus. It was the Hearthstone Battlegrounds that got me back in, and have saved enough Gold to purchase 36 DOD packs when the expansion launched.

The Lucky Number Seven

What started this very interesting week start was what I've received from those 36 packs that I was able to purchase using the in-game gold. To cut the story short, I have 13 legendary cards total without having to craft any of the legendary cards from DOD. Considering we have been gifted 5 Galakrond Cards and 1 Sarthrovarr, that means that I was able to open 7 legendary cards out of the 36 packs that I was able to purchase.

Out of all the Legendary Cards I've gotten from the 36 packs, Valdris Felgorge and Frizz Kindleroost have been, by far, my favorite. The two fits perfectly in the HandLock that made it easy to build my initial DOD despite missing a ton of cards from both this expansion as well as the last one, the Uldum Expansion.

Welcome to Shamanstone 2.0

Sadly, the Handlock was just not cut out for the Shamanstone 2.0 week that the DOD got us into. There is just so much to handle playing against Shamans. They are quick to build boards and clear boards with their Invoke Galakrond ability (summon a 2/1 Elemental with Rush). They have the draw and the Mutate-Mogu RNG as the alternative win condition in their arsenal. They have the Dragon's pack that you could combo with Electra Stormsurge into a massive 4x 5/6 Wolves with taunt on the board. And to top it all off, Shudderwock!

The only bad matchup? Going against another Shaman. Talk about LOL.

Good thing the Hearthstone team was quick to notice and plans on handing out NERFS to the Shaman cards that made Shamanstone 2.0 happen. Those record-breaking NERFS should come this week but there has been no update to the details just yet.

So before that happens, and you want to enjoy being part of the trend, here's a decklist for you:

Shaking off the Rust -- Ranked Time!

It's been a really good time to be a Shaman player right now, but I'm not like everyone else. I wanted to play something else into this expansion. Something I could afford with what's left of my Arcane Dust and the cards that are available to me.

The Anubisath Rogue deck simply checked all the parameters and got me back to playing Ranked again. I started all the way at Rank 10 and slowly climbed against the vast amounts of Shamans along the way. It had been a rigorous week, but I still managed to climb all the way to Rank 4 now.

Mulligan Tip: Hard Mulligan for Necrium Apothecary ALL the time. You need to be able to pull off this guy to start building your low-cost minions even if you do not have your Necrium Blade. Pop this while your Faceless Corruptor is on hand? Instant 2x 8/7 Rush on the board, enough to go against the fully invoked Shaman Galakrond.

Conclusion

That is it for this week's Hearthstone content. I will play more Anubisath Rogues and maybe I'll dish out a guide next time. So watch out for that. Hopefully, I'm back blogging on Steemit for good, so support me here and keep those upvotes coming.

See you all on the next one.
