[ADVENTURES IN KOREA 5] free alcohol!

Cat Lover and I hopped on a bus to get to the night market (held every summer by the department store) ... only to find out we had arrived three hours too early... ULTIMATE FAIL.

We went to McDonald's to save the starving Pear. Luckily, the night market was next to a department store, so we were able to kill some time by shopping. I never knew how hard it was to shop until this fateful day. Two hours we walked around until finally...

Twas' time!

One of the first things we saw was this giant rolling- bubble- hamster wheel- thingy. The kids inside were having a blast running around and falling down. Damn...

If only I were twenty years younger...

The night market also featured small craft booths selling homemade items. Some stores sold mass produced made in China items, which was obvious and disappointing. The REAL homemade stores had unique products, such as the cutie cushion cactus, dinosaur patterned fish, and pikachu dachshund. I was tempted to buy the cactus plush, but stopped to keep a promise to myself not to buy too many things before getting a permanent home. AKA - HOARDER PREVENTION MEASURES.

There were performances which included tweens engaging in provocative dances and amateur singers. However, it was mostly enjoyable because of the FREE BEER.

FREE BEER

YES! Thank you beer for saving us. The beer was actually a gift with purchase. Spending 5,000won at a booth was a cup of beer and 10,000won was two cups. Cat Lover dropped 10,000 on a purchase and got us two beer coupons! A random ahjussi (uncle) passing by gave us another coupon while we were in line. The beer gods were smiling upon us. HUZZAH!

Another awesome point: all the beer was craft. I had the beer man select the for us, he gave us pale ale, a dark, and something else. The dark was hands down the tastiest and had the deepest flavor. Cat Lover is not fond of beer, so I downed all three cups. What a wonderful day for me to be able to get a free buzz.

Of course, a day cannot be complete without some food. I was entranced by a delicious smell to a stall selling grilled chicken skewers.

Fire! brushed chicken.

The chicken was coated in a sweet and tangy sauce. It was moist, tender, and cooked just perfectly. Cat Lover had a bite and had to get one for herself! Yup, that good.

We ended our excursion passing by a mini garden also next to the department store. It was peaceful and SO GREEN. Sometimes it's nice to be able to find some calm in this busy industrial city.
