THE CPS vs SOCIETY: WHERE ARE REAL CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES?

Only 1 photo has changed the life of a young mother and her baby.
Only 1 story that is the best illustration of the attitude to the family and motherhood in CPS and in society.

This is Lada Koroleva and her husband with their newborn baby in the hands.
They're only 18, but they're already parents. It happens rather often nowadays.

They could be a happy friendly family, but the father was called to serve in the army: 18 years is a classical age for it in Russia. He will be back only in 1 year.

Lada was left alone with the baby. The state help in their region is about 150$ per month for 1 baby. Of course, it's too little, and the young girl had no choice but to seek for any kind of income.

The best variant she found was being a food-courier. But the problem was she had nobody to leave the baby with, so she decided to work together with her little girl.

It's the photo that was made by somebody in the street during her working day.

She was bringing food to a client with her baby.
She had a special clothes and a bag, so people understood who she was at once.

The photo became popular very fast!

And there were 2 feedbacks about it, 2 types of reaction: from the CPS and from people.

Guess, what were they?

Of course!
The CPS started to threaten that they would take the newborn to the orphanage because the mother couldn't take care of her!

A poor girl was so afraid that she wrote about it in her page in the social web, and it was her saving!

People reaction was very fast! They organised help to Lada: a lawyer, food, all necessary things and clothes for the baby.

The lawyer explained that the CPS had NO right to take the baby in this situation. The society was crasy protecting the young mother....and the CPS called and said Sorry to her!

The victory!

And moreover, the head of the company where the girl worked, took care of her as well: he proposed he to pay for the baby-sitter until her husband was absent!
What relief for the poor young mother!

And the main is how different the attitude to the problem was in the CPS and in society.

So where is really Children Protection?

Sort:

good thing people organized to help!
