Conifers or conifers (Pinophyta or Coniferae) are a group of open seeded plants (Gymnospermae) that have conifers ("cone") as seed-bearing organs. This group is now placed as a separate divisio after it is known that the separation of Gymnosperma and Angiospermae in clansis is polyphyletic.

Approximately 550 species of its members, with shapes of shrubs, shrubs, or trees. Most of its members have a cone-shaped header and have longitudinal (lancet) or needle-shaped leaves (so they are known as needle-leaved plants). Leaf shape of this kind is considered as an adaptation to the habitat of almost all its members are often found in relatively cool temperate regions, such as circles circles or in the highlands.

The conifers are mostly scattered in temperate climates. Its narrow leaf shape is highly adaptive to the low temperatures that characterize the area.

In the tropics only a few species grow in nature and naturally love the cool mountain areas. In Indonesia there are some representatives, such as tusam (Pinus merkusii), a number of Araucariaceae such as resin (Agathis alba) and male damar (Araucaria cunninghamii), as well as some Podocarpus
