Market customers in the western German city of Aachen have ventured out of their usual range of familiarity to test bug burgers made of bison worms.
The worms, exceptionally nutritious because of their high protein content, are the hatchlings of wild ox creepy crawlies and are reared in the Netherlands.
Served in moves with lettuce, onions and tomatoes, they are being offered to clients at a market in Aachen where they have recently been added to the stock range in the wake of demonstrating effective in the Netherlands and Belgium.

@makesushi The word worm is a bit confusing here, it's a larva of a beetle. People feed them to fish, birds and reptiles. They're considered safe for human consumption and are processed into food.
@ajstar I like your article, thanks for sharing. Have you tried them yourself? They used to sell such burgers in the supermarket next to my house. I tried them and thought they were pretty nice. For me they had a nutty taste. Quite similar to the nutty flavour profile found in certain cheeses.
For anyone feeling a bit freaked out by such burgers, you could ease into it by sampling some fine cheese. Cheeses like Stilton, Mimolette and Comte have tasty mites on them.
