Now when you are saying it, it sounds quite normal that they should be sending you samples just as regular courtesy. Especially when the product itself cost pretty much nothing at all.
Yeah, I had to come to one of that cafes asking for an empty cup because I don't drink coffee but wanted to get my author's sample :)
That's pretty lame... :) Hopefully not all clients are like that and more appreciate actually getting some really beautiful art!
