Perhaps everything happens for a reason, or perhaps I have been cursed. I've always been uncharacteristically lucky when playing board games like monopoly and videogames like Mario Party, but in real life I have had really terrible luck. I graduated from a top 25 business school in 2013 with about $70,000 in debt. I was a young optimistic kid, and since then I have been fired once, laid off 3 times, and had 2 temp jobs. I have never made it past 8 months at a job. I would like to take responsibility for this, and I want to assume that I am the problem in some way shape or form, but the reality is that every company I go to seems to experience financial problems within a few months of hiring me. I truly cannot fathom how unlucky I have been, but I continue to move forward hoping that someday I will achieve something worth having. I've always been a proponent of working hard, but is success just about luck? Is a good life just about being in the right place at the right time?
Sorry to hear about your career troubles! But you are NOT alone. (not that's helping to know you are not alone, but know that it's NOT your fault). It's tough now, companies been sending jobs to low-cost places for decades. People are tight with money and not spending as before, less investments being made, though the 1% flourishes :) Anyway, do not give up. I have seen far more experienced, professionals barely making it, but when one door closes (another.. couple ones) open, or so they say! I believe the formula is to NEVER be without a job :( as harsh as it sounds. Calculate your expenses (college debt plus necessities) or downsize if possible. Make a habit of calling jobs (or contact through connections) and may be get a book or two about how to find a job (in your field). Nevertheless, it's not gonna hurt. Good luck!
thank you for your support
Hello there, if you are in the top 25 business schools, intelligently you should be one of the top in the world. Bt at the same time, being laid off may not just be bad luck. Have you consider other factors? Maybe the industry is going down or maybe it is yout work quality? Before you have all these sorted out, then maybe find a solution to the root cause.
Sorry to hear about your troubles <3
It sounds like you are being guided towards something.
Perhaps it will become clearer in the days and weeks to come.
