Why does there seem to be a higher propensity for something to go wrong when you need it not to? You may have noticed today (If you're lucky enough to be a voter of @justinadams witness) that there were automatic upvotes on your posts. You may have also noticed that it merrily upvoted and commented on your comments as well. I created 3 bots yesterday on a 36hr coding binge and apparently goofed on one of the scripts. This bot in particular had the task to automatically upvote posts made by anyone who has voted @justinadams as witness. The bot apparently mistook comments as "posts" and started to upvote EVERY comment as well. As you can imagine, this is something that could become quite frustrating and down right annoying. I've reprimanded the bot and put him in a corner for now. However, I'd still like to finish it and test it because I want to do this for my supporters. I've moved the robot account to @chainchoppers as he apparently doesn't want to play well with other scripts either. I appreciate you guys who reached out and gave a heads up about the bot malfunctioning today. Your feedback was well appreciated. The bot constructor was pretty straight forward and simple. If someone votes for @justinadams as witness, then upvote every POST they make. Not comments too! Currently we have about 35 witness votes (probably a lot less now due to this mishap). Just know that I feel indebted for your support and would like to extend my greatest and most sincere apology. I really wanted this to work so that I can show my appreciation for you guys support. The bot will return soon with different rules so please stay tuned for more updates regarding that. The bot also says "I'm sowwy"
I'd never leave you over a bot mishap ♥️ It was rather entertaining actually because I knew something had gone haywire. Such is development. It takes someone who codes to know something as simple as forgetting a semicolon can implode your computer. I hope others understand. I'm sure Tesla zapped himself more than once.
If it wasn’t for your mistake, I would not have found you.
Well, I'm glad it was a mistake. You didn't seem like the type to start spamming people to bribe for votes. I have to admit that I did search "How to revoke a witness vote" but couldn't find an easy way so I gave up because I'm a quitter.
Oh no way. Just trying to build a community of people that don't mind helping each other out if they can. I dont want to take anything from anyone. I want to build smart applications that provide convenience and compensation for the community it supports. Glad you stayed loyal man.. :P
Well, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I get all kinds of .001 SBD donations with spam from witnesses, but I voted for you based on one of your posts and didn't figure you were one of those. Unfortunately, I didn't know a different way to get a hold of you. Maybe Steemit needs a DM feature, but it would just end up being a free way to spam people. At least now after 10 spams you get a penny. haha
Keep up the good work.
Hhaha. If I got a penny after every 10 spams I’d be 🤑🤑🤑🤑
So that's what happened. No wonder I got a sudden upvote for my comment. Though I did not vote for you as a witness to get upvotes but because I saw how hard you worked for the platform and community yet not get the recognition you deserves. Still I do appreciate the gesture and as long as you keep doing your best for the community like you are doing now my vote will stay.
Thank you for the upvote, the gesture is appreciated. But if you leave such comment in every post you upvote other people will misunderstood and think that you are trying to bribe your voters. Also, repeatedly doing that can land you in the blacklist of steemcleaners and abusereport ( I did not put an @ or this post might end up being reported) and it won't do good for your reputation. Just stay active and do your best for the community and your voters will naturally support you.
I think i misplaced the "memo" with the comment. It's not supposed to leave a comment. Only a nice memo to the "member" basically saying thanks. My apologies again for the confusion
Don't worry man, it was fun to watch :-)
the linkNow, I have a favor to ask... @stimp1024 has some trouble retriving comments and since steem api is not familiar to me, but your bot knows how to find them, could you help him out, please? Here's
Making a comment to make sure the bot isn't going haywire still
nesting a second comment for redundancy
direct reply just to be thorough
thank you for the update @justinadams - transparency means a lot here on the block
@gaman is on the @abusereports blacklist for being a bad Steemian! Bad spammer, bad!
