RE: How it feels to have STEEM POWER! (custom animated gif)

in #whalepower7 years ago (edited)

hi jerry, I'll help you :)
as you have seen, the voting power and voting strength are different. By default small voters will always use 100% strength and this act of voting takes away 2% of their current power , so the lower your voting power goes, the smaller each vote is worth and the longer it takes to drain it even more to a minimum of 0.01% voting power drained per vote.

Let me give a series of examples to make it simple:

  • 100% voting power, 100% vote strength = 98% remaining power
  • 50% voting power, 100% vote strength = 49% remaining power
  • 20% voting power, 100% vote strength = 19.6% remaining power
  • 10% voting power, 100% vote strength = 9.8% remaining power
    etc.

this also scales the other way:

  • 100% voting power, 75% vote strength = 98.5% remaining power
  • 100% voting power, 50% vote strength = 99% remaining power
  • 100% voting power, 25% vote strength = 99.5% remaining power
    etc.

and then you must note that voting power recharges about 20% per day, so you could do 10 MAX STRENGTH upvotes per day at 100% power, and if you are at 50% power you can do 20 and sustain there, they will just be worth about half as much on average.

Note no single way of doing this is strictly better in terms of total output, it's just a different form of concentration or spreading the votes around, the primary thing you need to optimize is keeping your voting power from recharging to 100% and staying there for extended periods of time.

Hope that helps you (or anyone else with the same question) ^_^

I do not have a slider for my upvotes and have been doing 100% , and I use steemvoter.com rules to slide the upvote percentage to video content providers who are anarchists.@alphacore AWESOME guide, thanks for sharing!

So how can I modify my Firefox browser to slide the upvote % ?

an easy way to access % on individual votes is:
[chain.bb forum] using @jesta's

for this you will need your private posting key from wallet permissions
chainbb is attached to the steem blockchain but using a different interface
this will allow you to use the vote slider sooner than on steemit

as a side note the slider staying hidden until roughly 500SP is a design choice to keep things a bit more simple for new people, but there are ways around it :)

hope that helps you, sorry for the late response.

@alphacore thanks for the reply, yes, my first attempt to register for chainbb failed and I haven't tried again, as it is a beta version.

I'm curious about the ways around the 500SP feature, if it is not too complicated.

Hi @ronmamita,

<p dir="auto">I was facing the same issue since I am near the 500SP but no cigar yet:) <p dir="auto">So I wrote an app which allows me to vote with less weight. <p dir="auto">You can try my app if you think. It is simple to use and secure because it uses SteemConnect to verify your identity. <p dir="auto">To find your posting private key on Steemit: <ol> <li>Go to <strong>wallet/permissons. (or click here: <a href="https://steemit.com/@ronmamita/permissions" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" title="This link will take you away from hive.blog" class="external_link">[link]) <li>Click on <code>SHOW PRIVATE KEY button. <p dir="auto">You will need that for login.<br /> See my app at <a href="http://minnow-power.net" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" title="This link will take you away from hive.blog" class="external_link"><strong>Minnow-Power.net <p dir="auto">It will guide you, how to use it;) <p dir="auto">At your SP level at 100% Voting Power, a 25% Weight vote would still result $0.01 to an author. <p dir="auto">If you have any question, please ask!<br /> <center><strong>Have a great day:)

@neander-squirrel thanks and I will look into your app 👍 Even though I went to chainbb after @alphacore 's comment reminded me to try again.

I'm happy to hear that you've found a solution:)

Actually chainbb is a much simpler way to upvote. My app requires you to copy the link of the post/comment you want to vote on. So it is not as easy as a pushing a button:)

Thanks for your reply!

Keep steemin':)

WOW!!! Great examples, very helpful for me :) Thank you so much - SUNSHINE247

I guess I will understand it some day. Thanks @alphacore, that helps a bit, but it is still so complex. Steem, Steem Power, SBD. Curation awards, Author awards my head spins thinking about it all.

@alphacore this is so useful i can't thank you enough 👍👍👍 i literally screenshot your reply

Very useful.

Ah, thanks!

Thanks for this explanation. I still don't understand a damn thing, but at least I have something to read later and to think about... I'm sure some day I'll see the light 😂
