Looking back to when STEEM was released on Poloniex until today has left me with only one question in mind, and that is how high can STEEM go?
Cryptos in general are doing great!
Taking into consideration our neighbours in the crypto-space which technology is far behind the one we use, one can surely see that their price per unit and market capitalization has reached unprecedented highs, so my open question to all of you: How High Can It Go?
Crypto is very unpredictable, you will not know what high you will get, only patient is the key.
I'm no expert, but I do believe that the more interest is generated and the higher the demand grows, the more the sky's the limit :) I like to think of the market capitalization of more mature firms as a benchmark. It just shows how much potential there is in the young and still developing crypto market.
Back peddle a bit on 'the sky's the limit', one limit would be the number of people able to access cryptocurrencies..i.e. perhaps some of the lower societal levels living in technology-poor countries might sit out
Steem in my opinion is still one of the best cryptocurrencies to invest in and I hope it keeps going upwards, despite the tumbles it has had recently.
It all depends on how much wealth the Banksters want to transfer from this dying FIAT system to the next one,which is going to be a Crypto based monetary system for sure!
So expect the Market Cap to be a couple of TRILLION in the not too distant future!!!
Yup, that's the key. How much $$ will come in with when their rigged game starts to crumble.
Might that just be enough for everyone to have a UBI(Universal Basic Income) ala our "friend" Mr Zuckerberg. Is this a "connected dot?"

As minimum it could certainly reach the all-time high in my opinion. However, I do not agree that the next monetary system will be Crypto based.

High... You mean price per Steem, Alexa rank, Market cap or number of visitors per day? I personally think 100 fiat USD per Steem by 2020 (and I tend to be conservative)
Hey I'm in investor but very new to Steem. I love the concept so I bought a couple thousand steam at $.25. Then as the price started to skyrocket I started to research what this was all about ...and wow all I can say is I've been buying every dip I think this thing can go to the moon
I don't believe in predictions...if Mayans were good at predictions, there would still be Mayans...I read this quote somewhere thought I will share here...one thing I'm damn sure about is that steemit is here to stay in the crypto world...more than price I can definitely predict the steemit community user experience is gonna sky rocket to the moon... :)
The more people are involved and have an interest, the higher the price.
The higher the price, the more speculation. The more speculation - the greater the price.
The greater the involvement of large funds - the higher the price.
The more possibilities of payment in any supermarket - the more interest and involvement, and certainly more PRICE.
If any coin appears on a new exchange - its price immediately increases, due to increased involvement of the number of interested people.
In my golos.io account, I wrote an article about the fact that if there is 100% involvement of people, the price of bitcoin can reach a value of $ 6 million.
We divide 135 trillion to 21 million.
But there is information that dollars in the world are more than 135 trillion dollars.
1,200 trillion if divided by 21 million. = 57 millions for 1 bitcoin.
About others... The more involvement, the greater the price.
I think it's not only about steem. Almost all the alt coin value had be increased quite rapidly. So, it's hard to only make a comment on the trend of steem.

I don't think there is a limit to how high steemit and cryptocurrencies in general can go. I believe cryptocurrencies is the future, and certainly a social platform with currency built in has come to stay. Steem has the network effect, and there will be higher and higher highs to come. I am convinced everyone buying steem at this time will not regret it in years to come. The growth potential is enormous.

I think since @jerrybanfield started to promote steemit the price has increased but this is just the beginning before the steem rocket will launch to all time high. Keep calm and we will do great things in the coming months and years i believe😊
I think the long-term valuation largely depends on how good the content is. Not to be too negative, but the content right now is not very good. I see the successful posters right now as highly paid beta testers more than legit authors.
My thesis is that steem could get into a continuously cycle of "better
content-> higher price -> better content -> higher price".
A reference point for what good content costs is maybe the COGS of the New York Times. At this level we would have a reward pool of $650 Million and a market cap of ~$6.5 Billion to support such a pool.
Add a speculative premium to that and you get a steem price of around $50.
My prediction is when the trending articles are the same quality as NYT journalism you'll have $50 steem.
It could go several times higher than that, but ultimately everything depends on content!
If the growth of the community keeps up the pace, 5usd should be reasonable by mid summer I guess!

I also think Steem at 5 will be happening soon especially if there are some major announcements, so far we haven't got much channels outside of steemit, but if somebody picks up the news around the currency or the site here there will be interest

That is a very good question, and not so easy to answer. Although I'm quite a newbie to cryptoworld, and in more particular to crypto pricing, I have a hard time to determine the value of a coin. When applying the normal way of company valuation, then eg Steem is way out of price (FB active user = approx 225$ ; WhatsApp active user at time of purchase = approx 40$ ; Steemit active users = approx 30k$). But currrency is not the service, or the value of the active user persé. A Euro is the value of a Euro and has no backing of any sort other than it is a currency that is valued by most of the people around the world as being a Euro with a set value that will almost not fluctuate. It is also a currency that is excepted by many many (gazillions instead of millions) point of sales, companies, shops, people. None of the cryptos are well established in the commercial markets, ie point of sales. Crypto values are mostly determined by traders on the exchanges. Most of the cryptos just have a story for what they where created and have nothing in reality. Cryptos are in hype by mainstream media having more attention to crypto; This brings in new fresh money from fiat currency traders, or stock traders, and that increases crypto prices even further. How much it can still increase? I like to believe 10 fault for the big ones, and 100 fault for the small ones, but it could also happen that in a couple of months time most cryptos are worth just 10% of what they are worth now. Some of them well stay in the market, but I can not believe that more than 700 coins will survive next couple of years, maybe not even the end of this year.
My husband talks about this all the time. He says when the the Wall Street money starts pouring in it will make these current gains look like child's play. Let's ride that wave! :)

Steemit is a great place to save up for a bank for your forex account. I'll soon be 11K SP with an account value of around $28K - not going anything to spend the money on yet ... maybe travel??
Crypto period! is a great place to store some money so that it can grow to then give you capital for trading 0r whatever it is!
I took my Forex profits(btc) & transferred it on over to some crypto(3urst,D0pecoin, Xrp and others)multiple times and made more by doing that(buy & hold) then I make in the Forex-market. Good morning I am an investor and speculator for multiple years now and I bought Steem when it was trading at $.25 then the price skyrocketed. So I decided to research and research it and all I can say is wow . Since then I have bought more on each dip and powered those dollars up. And I am now just starting to participate in the community and I think the sky is The limit. The coin price of $100 in the long term I think is obtainable. By the end of this calendar year I think $10 is reasonable
I would say that if steem continue to grow as it is growing now and with the awareness it is getting i can see steem at 10$ in the beginning of 2018 and on a long period even much more ...depend on how the social network will develop
..remember that steem is not only a cryptocurrency - it is more a social network then just a cryptocurrency
Good question, my opinion is Steem can go more than we can even imagine because maybe more than 10.000$ per Steem. I know that sounds crazy but look or other coins who are useless and have big price. Just think about that, when Steemit will become popular the price will go high ... very high.

There is a mass of new liquidity that is being pumped into the steemit economy and
the crypto space in general.
So, more and more articles are published that highlight its increasing value and infrastructure which leads to more capital entering the space, which continues to put upward pressure on the price to Around $4.2 !!

To think when I first started my crypto journey at the end of April, I was especially high on Sia and was convinced that it was the best thing since sliced bread. While I am still supportive of Sia, only 2 weeks on Steemit have been enough to convince me that STEEM is the real deal and hands down, it will be the best and fastest blockchain project out there! Let's take it to the moon my fellow Steemians!
Now total crypto market cap is 110.3 billion.
The money refers only to currencies such as bank notes, coins, and money deposited in savings or checking accounts, the total is somewhere around $80.9 trillion.
So currently to cryptocurrencies invested only 0.13%!
I supose in the next 1-2 years we will observe a capital flow to crypto markets at least 10% that approximately will be equal $8 trillion (100 times greater than today's crypto market cap)
Is it a safe assumption to assume the price of steem may keep rising as long as bitcoin price rise? So the reciprocal will be if the BTC crash steem crash lol.. enjoy the moments of the highs and take advantage of the lows seems like a good plan for me. I predict the bitcoin price hits 3500 plus before it decline and steem roughly around 2.75 before it decline, great post @fyrstikken..cheers!

Honestly, i said to @kingscrown i see steem reaching as much as $100 in 12 month period. At such a platform growth its only natural to see huge price increase as demand is increasing as well. demand+crazy crypto growth times=steem $100 by next summer.

Steem needs to get more signups and users like a million or so by say dec. then the plantform should prove it can scale up like that without big issues.. as soon as it hits mainstreem price will pop otherwise this will go down as soon as the crypto rally is over.. i am positive in the long term .. most likely scenario is reditt users migrate to steem.. hard for steemit to take fb users away.. this brings an opportunity for someone to build a decentralized facebook

How high? That's bitcoin, only a few times higher.
In order to answer that, we need to know in what time frame? Today, next week, or next year?
I think that we look too much to our nearest neighbours for comparison. It's really hard to separate what is truly new (and therefore means we can't predict) and what is actually the same as other things (so we can draw parallels and make predictions).
I think it's all to play for. I also think we'll worry less about how we're doing against the dollar because we'll be using other crypto more and more for doing ordinary stuff.
At least $10 USD based on previous technicals .... fundamentals I'm still figuring out but I'd guess fundamentals would put it around $80 USD at current US Dollar value and current Bitcoin value... however... we might take time to get there who knows... by then those price levels will probably be higher in future USD/bitcoin valuation.
I have no idea, but 10 $ seems very realistic by the end of this year.
