Indeed, it seems to me that Angola had a qualitative advantage over South Africa during this war. The Olifants were old models compared to the Angolan T-55s which were upgraded to the standards of the Warsaw Pact. However, on the whole the Angolans managed their defense better than their attack on the Lomba River.
