I love it! These pictures are so awesome and I really love the chickens :-)... I used to have pet chickens when I was a kid and they are the coolest! I used to watch them open their mouths and just stand there and the wind, their tongue blows like paper, it's so funny!
I love your property Lindsay :-), I wish I could jump right into your life! Homesteading seems like such a fun lifestyle! <3!
BTW, I'm glad you like the picture of my first bass of 2018! I felt very accomplished :-)
This is Penny, my Rhode Island Red I had as a pet for six years until last year... An owl took her away from me :-(... She even had a duck friend named Dollar that got so depressed after the owl attacked... Dollar was never the same so we took her to be with other ducks at a sanctuary nearby.

PS: I also wanted to show you Penny bc figured this is the most appropriate way to send you a picture of my... "chicken" without upsetting a significant other! Lol just kidding, I'm not that kind of guy :-)... How often will I get to say this you know, not everybody likes chickens like us! <3

No problem & I'm glad you liked the picture :-)! She was such a cool pet, I mean Dollar was too (& they were inseperable) but Penny would always be in the most obscure places and she would sometimes startle you. It was always such a laugh in the mornings when you would draw the curtains and somehow Penny would be precariously balanced on the window ledge 8 feet off of the ground... How she got up there I would never understand, plus the ledge itself was barely a half inch wide so I don't know how she even stood there! They're also very pretty birds the Rhode Island Reds.
I have visited Dollar a few times though and I think she is managing very well over at the sanctuary! I think she finally knows that she is a duck instead of a chicken because obviously Penny couldn't fly, so for the three years I had Dollar, she never flew once! She would always stay on the ground or jump up in the air like Penny did but she would never actually fly haha. The woman that runs the sanctuary said that she has seen Dollar fly many times now so it was probably best that she be with her kind :P.

I am sorry that Penny was killed, that is so brutal...was she out at night? I heard of chickens who sleep in trees before. Sorry you lost Dollar too, I hope you can raise some animals again one day!
LOL I'm always trying to hunt down better pictures of my gaggle of pets, so as I find some good ones I'll be sure to drop them by haha! I love seeing other people's chickens to... as long as we were talking about chickens - the animal! I can't tell if we switched out of double entendre or not yet *wink :)! Just in case we are still talking and double entendre, I prefer seeing pictures of other people's cats :-)! There we go all bases covered!
And yes, it was really sad that Penny was killed by the owl, and she was out of the coupe that night for some reason. But such is nature I guess. The circle of life happens every day right in front of us if you only look close enough. It just sucks because Penny was loved by even the neighbors! And yes, she was a tree sleeper by the way :-), and Dollar slept right next to her! With any luck though, and a little bit of skilled trading this year I should be able to start my goat farm by 2020 at the latest, hopefully 2019!
