The Fearless Mind by Craig Manning
You now have a big decision to make: do you want to be average, or do you want to be extraordinary? You are now at the intersection of excellence and mediocrity. 80% of people on this planet take the path of mediocrity, 10% don't care, and are at the bottom rung of life. That leaves 10% of elite performance.
It's no secret that most of us want to be successful. For most of us, the path to success is hidden. The mind is at the core of everything we do. If the mind is strong, there is nothing we cannot achieve. Yet, so many people neglect the mind, ignoring it and believing it will take care of itself. This is not true. The mind needs to be trained and exercised. If it doesn't get exercise, atrophy kicks in and we lose control of who we are and what we are doing.
The mind is like a muscle – it needs to be exercised regularly. I've seen many newborn babies of friends, relatives, church members, and team members. I have never seen a baby who knew it all, who was born ready to walk, talk, and lead a great company. No one is born with the knowledge of how to drive a car. We are taught this skill. No one is born with the knowledge of how to read or write. None of these skills are innate – they must all be learned.
Likewise, no one is born with the knowledge of how to think correctly. We need to be taught this in high school, college, and at home. The mind is used more as a storage unit, but to think the right way, we need to train it.
Champions – or the elite of the elite – all have common psychological traits and habits. The research proves that champions are not born champions – they are made champions by acquiring and using specific skill sets. Using the Fearless Mind program, I have helped many individuals realize their dreams – helping Olympic and world champions, college athletes become pro athletes, and college athletes become national record holders.
But the Fearless Mind program is not just about athletics. The secret of champions is about life – helping people like you become the highest performers at work, home, and school, and in short, helping you become healthier, happier, and higher performing quickly.
The results of my research can be summarized as follows: mental toughness is the ultimate differentiator. All things being equal, the mentally tough win every time. In short, the elites of the elite are willing to do what others are not willing to do.
