There is a proverb in my place that “he who fetched an anti infected firewood invited the lizards to work.” If you have lived in the village before, you will understand that ants are one of the favorite delicacies of lizards and you cannot fill your house with ants and expect that the lizard won’t pay you visit.
Walking down the street few days ago, I saw small children playing with sand and empty cans. Coming closer to them, I discovered that one of them was sitting by the side and was crying profusely. I tried to comfort the child by asking him what was the problem? Expecting to hear a heart breaking reason , this was what he said "Chinedu collected my can", as he continued to sob. Observing this child's condition I was pushed to intervene and i tried my possible best to bring him back to normal.
Though I have witnessed incidents like that severally, but this child's case pushed me to think. Walking down the lane, I continued to contemplate what would have made this child cry up to that level for just an ordinary can. As i proceeded with my thoughts, the only answer that could come to my head with regards to the child's reason was "priority".
This child had prioritized an empty can in his mind to the extent that it becomes a source of pain to him.
Just as the person that fetched an ant infected firewood will not escape the visit of lizards, so does he who over prioritizes things much in life will never run away from pains or sobbing.
You may say, just because of an empty can as I did myself at the onset, but still, most of us sob on a daily basis for an empty cans of life.
Things that should not matter we have prioritized so much that we kill and die for them.
I don't know what you are mourning or sobbing over. The only thing I will tell you is that if you haven't prioritized it in your life, it wouldn't have affected you much.
Remember, Just like you have discovered as an adult that the empty cans you cried over as a child was refuse or garbage dumps from people's home, so you will also discover at your death bed that things you have sobbed over all these while in your life are all ephemerals.
Life is beyond what we fight for. Just give it a thought and remain Happy forever.
