Working in the Philippines as a government employee won’t give you a mansion and a lamborghini. Some Filipinos would choose to work in other countries so they can provide their families with a better life. It takes a lot of courage to do that, I guess, I haven’t acquired that level of courage yet. I’d probably say that I’m here because I want to serve my countrymen, but its partly because I’m too lazy to process the application and I don’t have the interest to work abroad yet.
With all the reforms they have been making with the salary of government nurses, I’d say its way better than 3-5 years ago. Last 2013, I was employed under the RNHEALS Program of the Department of Health. We were receiving an ₱8,000 stipend as a nurse trainee for a 1 year contract. On 2014, the program had some revisions. The stipend became a salary which was increased to around ₱18,000+/monthly. And from RNHEALS, the program is now called NDP which stands for Nurse Deployment Project. I have been employed under that program until 2015 and then a permanent position was given to me under the LGU. I am no longer working as an NDP, but I’m happy that on 2016 there was a salary increase again. They were receiving around ₱26,000 every month that time, until the last day of 2017. Now, we are hearing rumors that those who will be employed for another 1 year contract, will now be receiving around ₱30,000+/month. And that’s great news for all the nurses who will get the job. But that’s not the case for nurses who works in Private Hospitals. I heard they are receiving around ₱7,000-₱15,000 monthly, except of course if you work for the biggest hospitals, I think they have a pretty much higher rate. These nurses are overworked and underpaid. And I hope the government will do something for them as well.
That must have been out of the topic, but I’d like to give you an overview on how much a nurse earns here in the Philippines.
You won’t really save that much. Its just enough to cover your daily needs, some wants, and that’s it.
For people like me who have dreams in travelling the world, I gotta find other resources that can finance my travel expenses.
I have been interested in stocks and mutual funds, but I don’t how to start investing. And I’ve been preoccupied lately, that I have no time to learn about them. Plus, I think its too much for my brain cells. Haha.
Luckily, a colleague introduced me to bitcoin and cryptocurrency. He was interested in the ₱50.00 referral bonus of Coins.Ph, so he’s been convincing everyone in the workplace to try this. I downloaded the app and signed up. Few weeks after that, I explored it and read about Bitcoin. As I get to know it, I became more interested.
There was one time I was curious about mining, and I asked a friend what are his thoughts about this certain mining site. And he told me, it might be a scam, and he suggested to try Steemit instead. It wasn’t familiar to me, and I thought he’d probably get something if I sign up. Haha. But nope, Steemit is not giving referral bonus. Isn’t it nice that people are passionately talking about it when they don’t even get an incentive for it. Amazing right? Because Steemit doesn’t need to have a referral bonus. Once you get to know it, you’ll find out how great it is that you just want to share it to other people because you want them to experience how awesome it is to be a part of this community. I am truly amazed by how you earn here in Steemit that I can’t stop myself from talking about it to other people. Of course, you’ll earn through other online sites but I guess, the true asset of Steemit is its members. People here support each other. No grammar nazis, no trolls, no bashers are in here, but if there’s any, they probably are only 0.1% of the total members. I haven’t met anybody yet in my more than 2months of doing Steemit. I’ve encountered very few sarcasm, but that’s pretty much tolerable.
You gotta be nice here, unless you want that reputation to go down. I wish its like that in real life. Bitches and assholes gets flagged or downvoted. Its gonna be a flagging and downvoting party! Hahaha. If that’s how it is then Earth’s gonna be a better place to live, plus the population would dramatically decrease as there will be few people who will be left.
You don’t have to deal with bullies and arrogant bastards everyday. There will be extinction of bad people, because they will have to change themselves for them to survive.
For now, I’ll have to virtually live that dream. Atleast, the nice people are still existing, and they’re on Steemit. I’m sorry if I have given up appreciating humanity, I think that’s a by product of constant disappointments.
I’m truly happy I met Steemit.
I’m keeping my fingers-crossed that this platform is finally my ticket to my long time goal and that’s to live a nomadic life. But because of other considerations, like financially, I’m staying here for the meantime. Unless, I’m sure that I can survive that kind of life without the daily job.
If you have watched the film ”Eat, Pray, Love”, its pretty much the same except that I’m planning to do it longer and I want to visit more countries other than Italy, India and Bali.
With Steemit, I think it won’t be impossible anymore. I see a glimpse of hope. Finally, I’ve found a way on how I can fulfill my dream. My prayer right now is that this platform will stay awesome and will be here forever. 😁
@surpassinggoogle asked questions for us to ponder for his #untalented-adjustments contest. I gotta say, they really are thought provoking. Its like scuba diving into your self, trying to reach the deepest part of who you are and what you have become.
I started traveling 2 years ago. And though I’ve been seeing people who makes money from doing travel blogs, and though I have considered it, I’m not confident to create one. My writing skills sucks. My English is below average. I have no idea with creating websites and how it works. Marketing is not my thing. Basically, I don’t possess any quality that would make me earn money from it. So, I have set that aside and was contented in posting my photos in Facebook and Intagram, and that made me happy just by seeing them posted.
And then here comes Steemit, a total game changer.
I was really hesitant to post here at first. Making a blog would require someone to be very good at English since a lot of people would be able to read it. We Filipinos has this not so nice attitude of laughing at grammatical and pronunciation errors. Admit it. Thus, it makes us very conscious in using the English language.
My friend who introduced me to Steemit, invited me to join the #steemitachievers group on messenger. I was just reading the conversation at first because I was too shy to join them. Days passed, I slowly started asking questions since I noticed that the group was very approachable and helpful in trying to give answers to the queeries of the newbies like me.
”Flaws are welcome”I remember @lebron2016, telling us to just post and don’t mind the grammar. She’s been constantly telling everyone that . (I don’t know about SG’s #untalented that time)
I just got back from the PNA convention in Legazpi City, and I was telling a friend about what happened during that trip. While I was talking, I thought, what if I make my blogs as if I’m just telling a friend how my trip was.
I started writing about my travel to Legazpi, and words just came flowing. And whenever, I would stop and starting to become conscious of my grammars, these words are repeatedly echoing in my mind, ”Flaws are allowed”. - it made me continue to write. As what I have read, Steemit doesn’t need you to be perfect, you just have to be authentic. I forgot whose blog was it, but it motivated me to just express myself here.
Then my first travel blog was posted. I went to sleep, and upon waking up, I checked my Steemit account. I wanted to see if how many upvotes did I get from that post, I wasn’t really expecting it would earn a lot because it was a crappy travel post. But to my surprise..
It felt like I was at the top of Mt. Mayon at that very moment. Its truly ecstatic to see your post getting noticed. It was like winning a lottery. Haha.
I got two other travel post that was curated by @curie curators.
I also have other posts that was noticed by @ocd curators.
@surpassinggoogle would also sometimes notice my posts.
Thank you for the motivation @curie, @surpassinggoogle, @ocd curators (especially to @howtostartablog and @anomadsoul)
Indeed, ”flaws are allowed”. From then on, I became motivated to post more. I became less conscious of my grammar, and I’m now more confident to write. You know how words can truly affect someone’s thinking. Let’s choose to say those words who will uplift others instead of discouraging them. If it wouldn’t for the very supportive teammates, I would have been inactive already. Words of encouragement could really change your life.
According to steemd.com, my account is now 73days old. Its only been more than 2 months and so much have changed already. I can see myself definitely enjoying this journey. I have fallin inlove with this platform, and may the brains behind this be blessed with so much wisdom that they will continously make Steemit wonderful.
I know nothing lasts forever, but I’m praying that Steemit will be around for a very very long time that my great great grand daughter’s great great grandson would still be able to read this post.
In the future, when Steemit finally reaches the moon, we will be proudly telling others that we were one of the first 500,000 users.
When we have been regretting not knowing Bitcoin when it was still worth few dollars, I think this our time to redeem ourselves. Haha. Few months ago 1 Steem is around 1 USD, currently its at 8 USD. Things are very unpredictable in cryptocurrency, but who knows few years from now, 1 Steem is gonna be $20,000USD as well(fingers-crossed).
By the way, one of the best feature of Steemit that I really love is that helping others is definitely for free. You click the upvote button and you instantly help a Steemian earn something, plus you help them be inspired to keep going. These things makes me wonder why is everyone not Steeming yet? Haha
Thank you @surpassinggoogle for being awesome!
If we are on Twitter, this #untalented-adjustment contest will surely be on the top trending list. I would check your account from time to time and read your blogs, and it would amaze me, make me laugh, and drag me in deep thoughts. You are one of a kind.
I hope you will not get tired in helping and inspiring others. I know you’re busy but you really find time to curate posts everyday. Do you even sleep? Haha. Continue being awesome and spread your awesomeness to others.
I am so grateful to everyone who makes me believe there are still few good people out there who is passionately making a difference in the lives of others. In this world where mostly are centered on money, luxury and power, let us be different. Let us not be dominated by selfishness and greed. Help others anytime in any way you can. Remember, no help is big or small. Do not think that we are incapable of helping others because we don’t have the money and power. You have millions of other ways to make this world better. You can do something. Let us be more compassionate. Be of service without expecting anything in return. Be brave and let us conquer our biggest enemy - ourselves.
Thank you for dropping by and let us all continue to make a difference and spread positivity. 🤗💚

Steem work makes the dream work 😁This is such a great and warming article! You are an extraordinary soul - such a grateful, open-minded, genuine person. Hard to come by in today’s world! @lebron2016 also did a great job in terms of helping you ‘break out of your shell’. Your english is great by the way, it is good you’re critical on yourself for your self development, but I really hope you don’t hinder any potential along the way, you have too much of it to waste! I look forward to hearing more from you in the future, take care and good luck with everything!!
Very sweet comment
This comment is really striking! Thank you for taking your time to read my post and writing this beautiful words. I really appreciate it @saed. See you around. 🤗💚
All I can say is Wow! You're a talented writer and i think your English is better than mine. Hehe I hope our hero surpassinggoogle can see this
Your English is better than mine. I call myself illiterate cos in reality #untalented means extremely talented. It is just like when you say, those shoes are bad ass, simply mean they are extremely good. It is more about the context overall. No more worries about grammar when you do untalented because we attempt out-of-the-boxness and sift even the not-so-good to find good in it, sift the nonsense to find sense in it. "Flaws allowed so relegate reservations and you have attempted to create room to shine
Meaningful comment as always. Thank you @surpassinggoogle. It truly means a lot to me. This contest is really amazing, its so nice of you to make sure that everybody wins. Continue being a blessing to others. I really appreciate the upvote! I was really happy when I saw it! Thank you so much for being awesome! 🤗💚
