And that's because not the story makes the place itself beautiful and memorable, but most likely what feelings are embracing your soul once you arrive there.
So there we go with today's touristic attraction which is way more special and interesting than you could ever imagine.
Mănăstirea Bârsana has been created back in 1711 and it is located in Bârsana village, Maramures county, being an orthodox monastery.
The story of how this monastery appeared is pretty sad, as it came as a gratitude to God for the protection offered during the big plague in 1710, and it was built by the village priest together with his sons and the locators.
The church has been moved for 2 times from the city to a special cemetery for the people who died because of the plague, but in 1761 Mănăstirea Bârsana has been relocated in a very peaceful and relaxing place which is deeply connected with nature, making one of the most interesting touristic attractions you could enjoy.
There is not just the monastery itself, but a little different world made entirely of wood, that contains the church with a height of 57m, the bell tower, the summer altar, the chapel which has more floors, the monks' hermitage and an amazing museum.

The history of Mănăstirea Bârsana presents it as being firstly built in 1931 but which didn't last for too long due to the Tatar invasion which started a fire that destroyed the monastery and a big part of the village, because of the rebellion of locals against obedience.
The height of Mănăstirea Bârsana made it become not just one of the biggest ones from Romania but also from Europe, the monastery being considered a precious treasure of the Romania's culture which hides a wonderful and at the same time, a sad history that welcomes its tourists not only with peace, but with knowledge too.
It's incredible how tiny you are going to feel once you pass the gates and get surrounded by nature and the wonderful monastery which is 57m height, 22,57m length and 12,20m width.
The main cross is made out of iron and it measures 7m height with a total of 500kg weight.
The whole magic world is completed with the old monastery which has been partially burned but which is now on the UNESCO list of the most important buildings from the world.
The entire place is carefully groomed by nuns and there are no taxes needed to be paid in order to visit the location but there is only one restriction - you are NOT allowed to take pictures or create videos inside the monastery.

Mănăstirea Bârsana is on 23km away from Sighetu Marmatiei city, in the village called Bârsana, on DJ 185.
You can visit the monastery by passing the main gates which are on 100m away from the parking space or by following the alley you see in the picture which represents the side of the complex which is closer to nature.
