This building was the administrative headquarters of the Dutch East India Company and later of the Dutch Colonial Government (VOC - Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie)

The current building was constructed in 1707 by the city government, replacing the former city hall built in 1627. The building was modelled after the Palais op de Dam in Amsterdam, which demonstrate typical Dutch 17th century city hall architecture.

This is how the women dungeon looks like. I don't know if we are allowed to enter the room, but it is very scary. It is very short that you have to bend if you want to walk inside. And there's flood on the floor caused by running water.

As you enter this session of the museum, you can feel the emotion, darkness, pain and horror surrounding this place. I feel really bad imagining how those people felt back then.

There are still many more to see here but of course I can't upload everything in one post. Oh yeah, if you go by train, you can walk towards the museum because it is not very far. You can go with other transportation, of course. But remember the traffic jam of Jakarta.

Not that far, right?

There's a cafe called Cafe Batavia. Yes, I suggest you go there if you visit Jakarta History Museum. There's a vibe you can't explain there.

Enjoy your travel, guys! Be safe!
