Steemit attracts people from all over the world, and like a whirlpool, we all have converged here by some mutual force of nature, sharing our worlds in a living vortex of information.
Far Away Places
Having accumulated an amazing 1500 followers, I realize that I have come to know a few people here on Steemit, and these people live all over the planet, some close by, and some far away.
Of all of the faraway places that have interested me for my whole life, the country of India is perhaps the most fascinating for me. It is a place known for it's mystery and inherent wisdom, and I'm happy that I now have a friend on Steemit who lives there. @maya7 is that friend, and on her page she shares lovely poetry and many bright photos of the flowers that decorate her world there in Assam, India.
I easily found a photograph of a beautiful temple in Assam, and below is something which I drew for @maya7, 'Temple in Twilight':
Assam, India
Next I wondered where in the world Assam was, and I opened up the world atlas to find that it is nested right against the Himalayas in Northern India.
Even without the lines of the map, Assam can be seen by the shape of the landscape on the Earth from above:
Drawn Back to the Temple
There were many photographs of Indian temples on the internet, but one of the most beautiful that I found was the Kamakhya Temple in Assam, India. There seems to be some magic in this temple, and in this photo, the building looks like some sort of technological device.
Interesting Wildlife in Northern India
I had forgotten that India was home to a one-horned rhino, and these animals can still be found in Assam:
Of course I've always liked snakes, and of course Assam has snakes!
I've been drawn back to that temple again. It sure does look like a machine of some kind, while I have a feeling it's full of flowers and people, love and kindness.
My friends do live in interesting places, and Steemit swirls them all together into a single living thing. I appreciate all of my friends here, and look forward to seeing many more far away places here.
Thank you @maya7 for bringing your world closer to mine-- your home looks like a fine place to live!
Everyone! Be sure to go and see @maya7 and read some of her poetry, and you will be able to tell that she is constantly surrounded by flowers there in Assam India!
What a beautiful way to introduce @maya7 I will definitely go and introduce myself to her @therealpaul One of the great benefits of Steemit is to meet people from all over the world and learn more of the different cultures and scenery. It is a wonderful way to travel without leaving home. (Following)
Yes I do like to visit the world through my friends here, and eventually I will have to actually travel to some far places!

Yes steemit is a wonderful community where I can have the pleasure to meet the people like you. You have mentioned beautifully about my beautiful country, the temple you have mentioned above was constructed in the Pre historic period, the Hindu mythology is greatly related in it. you have greatly inspired me to be your sweet support and encouragement. Thanks my dear friend for your sweet words, it's my heartest pleasure to have you as my best part of life. I would like to mention that before steemit my life was very boring and monotonous but now I'm feeling great with the greatest influence of you friends. Thank you so much for your every help and love.
I'm glad you saw this, it really is my pleasure to be able to find so many pictures on the internet of Assam, and something about that temple stirs my curiosity about the architecture.
I am the same way, before Steemit I had a monotonous time too, so thank you for being here and being someone that I think of as a friend, making life better for me and many others.

I have several friends from India. It all started when one of my roommates was from there. He taught me how to cook in several different ways. He did a lot of fusion cooking and I always usually do the same.
I've seen lots of pictures from there but I've never been..
I would love to know some of those recipes! I have curry powder, but never am sure how to use it properly. I have a few little messes that I make with it, but it's guesswork.
