Let’s do a roadtrip north to Santo Domingo!
On the road north with views of the Caldeira de Taburiente
Our first stop for today is the Mirador de Santo Domingo.
Starting in Todoque, we need more than 1 h of time reaching that village – when you look at the winding road along the coast, this is no wonder.
But actually, the view at Santo Domingo is beautiful.
This rock sticks 73 meters out of the sea and looks very impressive.
A few meters next to that rock, you can see the Roque de Santo Domingo
This one is only 28 meters high. However, the waves are just as much raging around the rocks.
The mighty power of the water
After we have shot these beautiful photos, we drive to the village Puntogorda, today is Saturday and there is a market.
The market hall is not quite as romantic as we imagined – there is a lot going on!
We suspect that there are a lot of locals who buy their weekly foods here.
We buy a lot at the market: fresh avocados and bananas, delicious pastries and of course Mojo Rojo and Verde.
Freshly squeezed sugarcane juice
Wait a minute – Is this really a Black Forest cake, the hallmark of our home region? At La Palma? WTF?
Well, actually, it is.: A Black Forest cake at the Canary Islands. The influence of German emigrants on La Palma is so huge! Incredible! (Of course, we did not buy that but tried a local specialty).
We enjoy the purchased treats and then head back to Todoque.

Encantador.
