City of Mostar

in #travel7 years ago

I want to continue my story about cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and because of that, I want to tell you something about the next city in this country - Mostar.

Mostar is a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina with 106,000 inhabitants. It is famous by the Old Bridge, which was built in the 16th century and it was demolished in 1993, to be built again later. Mostar is one of the southern towns in this country and it is located on the Neretva river, which is why it is also known as the "city of Neretva". The cities altitude is about 60-80 meters and it is surrounded by many hills and mountains.

When it comes to the history of this city, it can be said that it was inhabited even in the prehistoric era, as evidenced by many archaeological finds from this period, caves, weapons.

Mostar was built in the Middle ages and was presented by two fortresses - on the right side of the Cim city (Cimski grad) and on the left Nebojsa. The name of this city was first mentioned about 1470 and encompassed the space around both fortifications.

After this period, the city became a saddle seat and the wooden bridge was replaced by stone, with a significant expansion of the city.

During the 19th century there were major changes in the management of the city, development and arrangement, when Mostar also received his railroad. It gets new facilities, residential, school, industrial, which represented the most beautiful buildings built in this period.

In the twentieth century, it became a modern city, the construction of cultural and historical buildings had began, however, the construction of public buildings had been in stagnation.

Today it is a beautiful city, highly visited by tourists, especially because of the bridge, which is still in very good condition and well preserved. In order to convince you, I will share with you my pictures from this beautiful city, as well as a clip. I hope you'll like it.
