Travel To Jamaica ✈ My Trip to Montego Bay for the Grand Opening of Breathless Resort – Part 1

I recently had the chance to travel to Montego Bay, Jamaica for the grand opening of Breathless Resort. An all-inclusive resort operated by AMresorts. I received an amazing offer to stay with them on opening weekend, so I booked a flight (using 19,000 Southwest Airlines miles) and took off six days later.

I started my trip from Boston, connected in Baltimore and landed in Montego Bay about 8 hours later. The flight down to Montego Bay was very pleasant on Southwest, and the Jamaicans sitting next to me on the Baltimore to Montego Bay leg were excited I was visiting their country for the first time. Upon landing the airport was extremely crowded, so I was very glad to have purchased a MoBay VIP pass. With this pass, a greeter welcomed me the moment I stepped off the plane and escorted me through customs. The regular customs line was long – maybe 90 minutes long – so it was a good investment of a few bucks to get this escort. Once I passed through customs, I was taken to a nice air conditioned lounge and given a cold Red Stripe while my escort located the driver I had booked to take me to the resort.

Upon arrival at Breathless, I was greeted by incredible bellhops who were extremely welcoming and passionate about their jobs. "Welcome to the Party" was their first line. The check-in process was a little slow, I was the only guest checking in, and they didn’t yet have the process down to keep things quick. The front desk agent was also not the most welcoming person. Once I had my room key, a Butler escorted me to my room and showed me the ropes. Normally, I don’t like when hotel staff take me to my room, but it was great to have this service here, as the room is decked out in automation and it was great for him to give me a quick overview of how to operate everything. While I am a tech savvy person, it likely would have taken me some time to figure out how to get the shades in the bathroom to close...
