A drive in the jungle!

in #travel6 years ago

Driving inside a forest is equally fun and risky. Fun because you can feel the nature, fresh air, creaking sound of birds and animals. Lesser traffic and pollution. It is risky if some wild animals cross your path or when you disturb them while honking on the road. In South India, elephants can be found in many forests and they get crazy at times.

This is a pic of our trip from Gokarna to Vibhuti waterfalls. Vibhuti falls is a famous tourist destination near Gokarna, it is in the western ghats of India. The waterfalls in deep inside the jungle. The distance was 42km. We expected the roads to be bad since they pass through the forest but surprised to find it really smooth without any pits or bumps. Though the roads were curvy, up and down, the drive was wonderful in two-wheeler. Can you spot twist and turns, z-bend signs. Cool breeze and almost zero traffic is more than you need to unwind on a trip.

Since it passes through forest and dense trees, it is better not to disturb the animals by honking yet we must be careful at each curves and blind spots because some other vehicle may be approaching from the opposite side. It took about 1 hour for us to reach. Checkout the photos, you can see endless curvy roads and no vehicle. The journey was more than awesome, difficult to describe in words.

The waterfalls was wonderful, chill water flowing down from the uphill rocks. Will save that for some other post later.

If you ever plan a vacation to Gokarna, include a trip to Vibhuti falls too. Gokarna is near Goa, probably 100km from Panaji(Goa's capital).
