Apple is rumored to be releasing updated AirPods with “wireless charging support” in the first quarter of 2019, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo as per AppleInsider. The product upgrade will include a new AirPods case with “rigid-flex board” internal components, as well as possibly improved Bluetooth 5.0 spec, revised W-series chips and more heat-resistant hinges.
Kuo also reports that the 2019 AirPods update will be followed by a more significant “all-new design” slated for 2020. Details are still sparse at the moment, however, Kuo was one of the first Apple rumors analysts to correctly report about the first AirPods model in 2016.
