They have three hearts

A curious feature about these wonderful creatures is that they have three hearts. Two of which are used to pump blood around the extremities, while the other is used for blood that travels through the organs.

The tentacles are part of your brain

Two-thirds of the octopus' neurons are in their tentacles, so they can use them to open a seashell while their bodies are occupied with something else. This also explains why the tentacles react even when they are separated from the body of the octopus.

The ink is not only to escape

The ink that octopus fire when they are in danger is not only useful for hiding but can also harm enemies, since it contains a compound called tyrosinase, which in humans helps control melanin and the pigmentation of the skin. This substance can cause irritation in the eyes and divert the sense of taste and smell. Even octopi must be careful with this since they can die by being exposed to their own ink for a long time.

The octopuses belong to royalty

They do not wear crowns, but octopuses have blue blood, because to survive in the ocean, they developed their blood based on copper and not iron, like humans, which turns their blood blue, by means of the protein hemocyanin , which is very useful to transport oxygen in their bodies when the temperature is very low or there is little oxygen in the environment.

Reproduction is deadly for octopi

The males introduce their spermatophores in a funnel that the females use to breathe and then the males will travel to die. The females can produce up to 400,000 eggs, which they keep so faithfully that they even stop eating, but they do not die until their eggs hatch and then their cells begin to die until their organs fail and die.
