Last semester all my clinicals were on a diabetes/overflow unit. It was beyond frustrating to see people with very controllable diabetes return and end up insulin-dependent because they wouldn't make the needed changes.
It was a real good lesson in patience and understanding. Even though the stakes are high, it is HARD to change your whole lifestyle at once.
Hello @americaurusrex
I totally agree with you. It's seriously a gradual step as one will have to cut down on habits they've been doing their whole life.
But at the end of the day, if you look at the bigger picture, diabetes is a really expensive (both emotionally, financially and health wise) disease; so its much more cheaper and even easier to make the lifestyle changes, compared to the resulting outcome of not doing so.
Thanks for reading.
