Top of the day to you. I did a little research on how to maximize your curation rewards on steemit and I will share the outcome with you in this post.
For newbies, I will start by explaining key terms such as voting, curation, curation rewards, voting power so you can fully grasp the essence of this post.
Voting
This is identical to liking a post on Facebook. On steemit it is called upvoting. You do this by clicking the upvote button after a post. The button has this sign ^.
Curation
This is the process of identifying good posts/content on steemit by upvoting them.
Curation rewards
When you upvote a good post, you are entitled to a percentage of the reward that the post earns. The percentage you get is your curation reward.
Voting power
This is the weight that your vote carries. Your voting power begins at 100% and declines as you vote. The good thing is that it regenerates over time.
Having clarified the major terms let's get to the core of this post.
How to maximize your voting power to earn maximum curation rewards
#1 Do not vote immediately after a post as 99.94% of the curation rewards will be paid to the author.
#2 Voting 15 minutes after a post is not very profitable either as %50 of the curation rewards goes to the author.
#3 Vote after 30 minutes as 100% of curation rewards will be paid to the curators.
#3 Your voting power is 100%, for every vote you make, it reduces by 2%. You earn more when your voting power is 80% and above.
#4 Minimise your voting on irrelevant posts because if you deplete your voting power on posts that you gain nothing from, it will take 5 whooping days for your voting power to regenerate to 100%. That is, 20% of your voting power is regenerated per day.
#5 Do not vote more than 11 times a day at 100% voting weight if you use steemit every day. If you follow this rule 99% of your voting power will be available after 24 hours.
If you consider this post helpful, do follow for more steemit education. I wish us all a prosperous journey on steemit.
This was helpful, but an example would help. If Author (A) posts something, and Curators B, C, and D all upvote it, how do the curation awards work out if: B upvotes immediately, C after 15 minutes, and D after 30 minutes?
Am sorry there is no direct answer to your question, Curation rewards is determined by a number of factors such as each curators voting power, Steem power and the percentage of vote allocated to a post.
If you're giving an example, you can pick whatever values for those factors, in order to help your readers understand. Steem power and percentage of vote allocated to a post aren't defined in your article in terms of maximizing your curation awards, can you explain please?
