When bitcoin was introduced I was excited about it because I was hoping that finally one global currency will be available, that is fair for everyone. But after some time, quite the opposite has starting to happen. Everyone wanted to have its own currency and hundreds of them has been created.
I am glad that bitcoin still stands as major crypto and that it won't change anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, I don't post this to attack steem or anything like this. I would like to know, why exactly steem has been introduced to steemit because if I could understand what benefits it gives, maybe I and other people like me will also use crypto for other projects.
Maybe I don't see everything in full light but wouldn't it be simpler if instead of steem, steemit would simply use bitcoin? Steemit creators could still sell steem power and earn money to develop this site and share profits to encourage people to post more content? They would have less work to do. But then wouldn't it be simpler to just add some kind of steem power - like maybe reddit power - to reddit and use bitcoin with it, instead of creating whole project form scratch? And what will happen with steemit if reddit would do just this?
Has steem been added only to have some money from speculators? Because let's be honest. We are not going to use steem to buy our daily shoppings any time soon and before it would happen, many things will change in crypto scene and way more projects emerge that will have it's own crypto to compete with steem and probably steem will always stay as one of many altcoins.
Are these altcoins used as form of regular shares, so people can be a part of a project and invest in it to be able to share profits when it grows? But if it is like this, then maybe there should be simpler solution found, so every company don't have to write it's own mining programs and other common to all crypto-coins stuff?
Again, even if I am big fan of one main coin, I don't mind altcoins and I wish projects like steemit will still succeed because it will benefit us all in the long run.
